70mach1 Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Revell kit. Refinished in gulfstream aqua. DuPont urethane clear coat. Engine wired and plumbed. Scratch built smog pump plumbing, parking brake cable, shoulder harnesses.
wayneman Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Very cool. I did one this very same color. It didn't turn out as well. Love the color. I had a friend who had the 1:1 that is this cars twin. Wayne
Dr. Cranky Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Nice, clean build, and you did a great job on the chassis. Very cool. Thank you for sharing your eye candy with us.
Merlin66 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Looks good. Where did you get gulfstream aqua?
Dragline Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I gotta be honest. When I see the words 69 Shelby on ANY site I imagine the worst. I have yet to see a really good build. Now, perhaps I have missed a few. There is that. But, I am loathe to click one. So let it be known that i LOVE yours! Perhaps the color is not my taste but the build is sweet. And that is what matters. Well played old man. Bob
old gearhead Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Nice build! I'm in the midst of finishing one of these right now. Was yours molded in yellow? Yikes! It seems like I've been painting this kit forever. Great job on that engine, BTW. I was thinking about adding the smog stuff, but I just want to get this thing off the bench now and move on to some other builds. I haven't ever posted pics out here, but I'll try to get some up of this car and a Revell '67 'Vette that's being finished up as well. Nice work!
jeff ewaskey Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Sweet Shelby!!!!! The paint and the engine compartment are outstanding.
Wagoneer81 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Very nice! Unique color and a very clean build!
Dominik Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Very clean build of a rare seen Mustang. Like the detailwork on the engine, but the painting of the chassis is not my taste. Why you had choosed red primer? I don't know...but i think, a grey primer will work better to the Bodypaint.
Merlin66 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 They were shot with red oxide primer from factory, so his decision was an accurate one.
Monty Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I love your choice of paint colors. Did you happen to buy the paint from scalefinishes.com? Mine will look similar to yours with the exception of the stripe color. If things go as planned, mine should look like this when it's done. My compliments on your chassis and underhood detail as well.
70mach1 Posted October 15, 2011 Author Posted October 15, 2011 I mix my own colors, I'll call the paint supplier for the formula. and go with a much finer flake pigment to try and keep the color more in scale. Thanks to all for compliments Andy Such
