I´m intended to build the ’72 Ford Gran Torino from the Movie.

I have the Gran Torino kit from Jo-Han.

This is what I found on the internet about the car:

The movie car is a 1972 Gran Torino Sport, with a 351C 2V engine with Cobra Jet Heads, with Magnum 500 Wheels. About the color: PPG: 4Q Dark Metallic Green #2291

So, here it is the first ask for help:

1)Could a good fella help me with more information about the car from the movie? Pictures, detaisl, color codes, interior, etc etc? (I don´t have the DVD. Probably I will buy it)

As the Jo-Han kit is a snap model, this is the second question:

2) What kit I could use as a donor? I mean, engine, wheels and tires, maybe some interior parts…

Thanks again folks!

1.This might help for a little info:

2. As for a donor to supply the 351C engine, the Revell 70 Mach 1 Mustang should be a good source. I don't know if that engine is a 2V or a 4V, but all the difference between those is just the carb, a 2 barrel carb on the 2V and a 4 barrel on the 4V. I also don't know if it represents the CJ heads, but if I remember correctly, the CJ heads were just a freer flowing head, so the differences would be internal and not a big outside difference.

The Mustang Mach 1 will also supply you with the correct Magnum 500 wheels, since they are included for the Boss 302 version, but keep in mind the Mach 1 version is the ONLY one with the 351C in it. Any of the previous Boss 302 or Boss 429 issues will only give you the correct wheels.

Here's a couple pics that might help on interior color, they're the best I could find to try to help.

A very cool subject indeed. The Mach1 Mustang would be a 351 4V, ie a four barrel carb. I have often wondered if the car in the movie Gran Torino and the car used in Fast and Furious are the same car.

Actually, the '72 Torino went to a full frame- the '70 is unitized. Your best bet for the chassis would be the Model King release of the '71 Thunderbird. They're the same wheelbase (114").

Pardon me, but those wheels look nothing like what's on the car.

I think he's actually building the car from Fast & Furious.

Actually I think its the one from the movie Grand Torino. They mentioned the Magnum 500 rims.grandtorinomoviecar.png Movie screen shot. Edited by The70judgeman

Built either way...what about the Laser Stripes? Haven't seen decals for them. They might be kind of hard to find. I suppose they could be masked and airbrushed and cleared with a reflective clear to get somewhat of the effect of the real stripes.fastandfuriousgrandtorino.pngFast & Furious screen shot.
