Kaleb Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) I started this without thinking about the cb project. So here goes. 2008 bullit Body is primed with a semigloss black to make the green darker. Edited November 26, 2011 by Kaleb
martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 looking good there, what shade of green are going with?
Olskoolrodder Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Joshua-Looking GOOD! Jonathan-Nope,NOT stripping the body . I'm going to be stripping the hood and re-prepping over the weekend (hard to find time between holiday and kids off from school),spray it to match. Haven't gotten anything done to it since Wednesday, but didn't really ecpect to being this week. HOPING to get the interior sprayed and going tomorrow (as well as working on the hood). Had a good Turkey Day,but turned out to be pretty upsetting\bad time as I found out some things (that I should have had enough sense to know well sooner),but oh well, that might turn out as a benefit (for us,anyways) in the long run Of topic a bit,but one of the nice things about pulling on a lot (on Black Friday,no less) in my old GT is sales-peeps seem to automatically think I'm an almost-mid-ager with a pocket of money (BOY wouldn't they be shocked! )-all I really wanted was a catalog on the '11s or a '10 one if they still had any,for referance pics, but was offered (and accepted) a test ride in both a Premium V6\automatic AND a new Coyote 5.0L\6spd GT today (I ran it pretty hard from every redlight too, once up to about 80 at the town's last light on the hwy ).....Ooooooooooooooooooooh I need one Now,mine (which ain't as stock as it looks ) will outrun the new V6 car,it ('11 V6) wasn't that far off (the new 305 horse V6 compared to mine)...but mine doesn't exactly get 31 MPG's (it's never busted 27 MPG's,and as it sits, averages 15-19 town\hwy)...not bad Edited November 26, 2011 by Olskoolrodder
Kaleb Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Thank you Going with hunter green, best green I could find. It calls for a metallic green but IMO plain green looks the best.
martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Sounds like you had fun test driving some new mustangs, did you get any chassis pics ?
Kaleb Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I forgot I have a GT500KR that's I've been building, aftermarket rims and hood. I'll post pics in a few. I'll also post pics of the hood because I'm having trouble with it. I don't have progress pics. So it will be where it sets.
Kaleb Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Next is the hood, paint went wacko on me. Rims. With crazy scale auto disc brakes. Paint goes on these real nice.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Sounds like you had fun test driving some new mustangs, did you get any chassis pics ? Unfortunately no,I didn't have the camera, and the salesman was with me anyways (well,sales-LADY,not salesman ) Well,I stripped the hood back down (in a real mood over something, couldn't sleep so after a few hours,I just got back up and did it),prepped and washed it again,and...and...here's the result: IDK what the heck I'm gunna have to do,I not only followed the maker's instructions,I used the same spray he does (no Tamiya primer on it this time,Duplicolor like Alex uses)...never had this problem with one of his hoods (I highly doubt it's a problem on his end though). Sent him fresh pic too,I'll see what he recommends So it ain't just you,Joshua,LOL! BTW,that GT500 looks sweet! Edited November 26, 2011 by Olskoolrodder
martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) That sucks, since I dont work with resin parts very often I have no idea what to tell you. Edit- look what the mail man just dropped off Edited November 26, 2011 by martinfan5
mrmike Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 After seeing all these Bullitt Mustangs, I thought I would post a couple pictures of the Bullitt Mustangs that I have built. The first is one I made from the 2006 Mustang GT kit as the version that Ford should have built, looking more like a '68 Mustang GT. This is the 2009 Bullitt Mustang built box stock as Ford built it except for changing the tires. A picture of both.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Dave: If I can't get anything better out of this hood,I may just order another (at my expense,it was my bad) and just give that a try, thanks for the advice Jonathan: SWEET! Mike: REALLY nice builds,my friend! I think you meant '08 though,Neither Ford nor Revell produced an '09 Bullitt
mrmike Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 No, I did mean 2009! I used a 2009 Bullitt Mustang as reference and built my model accordingly. There really is no difference between the two model years and Ford did produce a 2009 Bullitt Mustang, although it didn't have any publicity and was also produced in much smaller numbers than the 2008. I believe the '09 was just an extension of the '08, just being built into the '09 model year.
martinfan5 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) mike, nice work on those Edited November 27, 2011 by martinfan5
Olskoolrodder Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I've seen nothing about them ('09 Bullitts) in any of the books I've read\own...weird ,I must research this further Mike, thanks for the info! That means I may have better luck looking for one when I get that I can (between next year and '13) being some extras made of them I'm always watching the '01 Bullitts and '08's on Autotrader.com,just to torture myself,LOL!
martinfan5 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) well google 2009 bullitt and you see them Edited November 27, 2011 by martinfan5
Olskoolrodder Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Well,I knew they built about 7,700 of em,so despite that 2,600 or so was built in 2009 rather than 2008...doesn't really help there being more to choose from when I have the scratch ,still a cool bit o trivia I didn't (or wouldn't have) know(n) if not for your thread,Mike, thanks,my friend
Rick Schmidt Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Why pay the top cash for one ?? Clone dat sucker lol I'm slowly working towards cloning an 01 with my Daily already got the Spoiler delete trunk lid ... was working on finding the hood but a deal fell through. Leaves the side scoops ( easy to convince the wife I need them since the car got hit lol. and If I'm remembering right I need new C pillar covers and Rocker covers... When the time comes for wheels I'm thinking of finding a vintage style set of Torque thrusts in 15s to keep the stock tire size but dunno
martinfan5 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) I agree with Rick, do a clone of it. On topic, I won the bid on one more mustang kit, so now I have two more on their way to me soon Edit- what color did you guys use on the bullitt wheels? Edited November 28, 2011 by martinfan5
Olskoolrodder Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) Cloning,huh....IDK if I orta,I was already thinking of cloning a S281 (Saleen) with my GT one day, that'd be two clones,LMBO! Well,OK...the thought (the S281 thing) had been on my mind anyways,LOL! MrMike, look for a PM in a few Edited November 28, 2011 by Olskoolrodder
martinfan5 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Double - yes I had the same problem on the 10, really the only other was is to go with smaller tires to help, but then it may not look right with smaller tires either
Kaleb Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Well, I can paint the wheels, but I either lost the metal tabs to keep the wheels on, or they never came with the kit. I never seen any either way.
Agent G Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I agree with Rick, do a clone of it. On topic, I won the bid on one more mustang kit, so now I have two more on their way to me soon Edit- what color did you guys use on the bullitt wheels? Jonathan I stripped the chrome and sprayed the whole wheel with Tamiya dark gunmetal over flat black. I sort of "misted" it on so it had a semi gloss sheen. Then I used good old Testor's "chrome" from the small bottle and painted the rims and lugs. G
whale392 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I noticed the same thing, Dave. I was even going to go so far as to cut/relocate the front inner fenders up some, to help cure some of that problem. Same with the rears, only move them up/in for proper fit of wheels/tires. Rick, the hood is the same between 1999-2004 V6/GT/Bullitt. What is different is the hood scoop. locate just the scoop, drill the holes in the hood (there are already some spots on the underside of the hood to go by) and bolt the scoop down on. I did this with a friends 2002 V6, along with the trunk spoiler (as his car had neither when new). He now has the 'Pony Edition' or GT look without the 'Pony' grill/decals or the GT goodies.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 That's what I was thinking too (Bradley). Man,there's a nice looking '02 V6 (automatic ) car at a used lot down the road for only $2995...sure wish it was tax refund time,LOL! I thinks I'm gunna go look at it anyways...no budget to buy,but I always wondered if I'd be happy with a V6 car for a daily (assuming the buying of a Bullitt or clone is a ways off,use my '94 GT to play with )
Kaleb Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 The Bullit version on the 99-04 the 1/4 window panels are different. wouldn't be to hard to find.
