mrmike Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) I have returned and I have this posted in On The Workbench as well. A new WIP featuring a new storyline with McNally, Boston PI. This WIP is more about the build than the story. The story is only to illustrate what the build is about. All characters are fictitious and are not related to anyone real or deceased. The Build I am using the new Revell 2010 Mustang GT kit and the body from the Revell 2010 Mustang GT Convertible Snap Tite kit. I wanted something in the way of a green for paint and a search shows no green paint for the 1:1 2010 Mustangs at all. I am using Model Master No. 28101 Citrus Yellow Metallic Lacquer for this build. I think this color will look good on this model. The Story Justice In Her Eyes ADA Caitlyn Scotson storms out of the courtroom after losing a case...something she is not use to. She passes McNally, Boston PI and sneers at him since it was his testimony that got the defendant out of a murder charge. In the hallway, McNally sees his part-time employer, lawyer Charlotte "Charlie" Rothmann and walks up to her and asks if Charlie knows the ADA. She replies she only knows the ADA by reputation alone...that she is very good at her job with an excellent conviction rate. McNally says that the ADA is mad at him because of his testimony cost her the case, but he has to go since he has a stake-out to set up and he wants to get a nap in before he starts working tonight. McNally is getting his gear together when he hears a car pull up in front of his house. He looks out the window to see a metallic green Mustang convertible parked at the curb with ADA Scotson walking towards his front door. He opens the door to greet her as she barges in past him and starts demanding an explaination to his testimony in court. He tells her that he will not explain his testimony as he did present the facts, as he had investigated them, in court. He offers her a beverage, which she refuses, she turns and walks out the front door and back to her car. McNally stands in the doorway, watching the ADA leave, as he sees the newly released Jake sitting in an old Ford Taurus start the Taurus and leave. McNally takes note of Jake watching Caitlyn as she drives away and decides he'll have to see what is going on with Jake. McNally will return... Edited February 25, 2012 by mrmike
martinfan5 Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Ryan, nice job on the chassis Mike, welcome back to CBP, I have been wanting to do this to the convertible kit as well, looking forward to see how it goes
mrmike Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks Jonathan! I have heard of this being done, but no one has shown any sort of proof that it can be done. Well, I am willing to give it a try and based upon my investigation (I'm starting to sound like McNally here), it is plausible. We shall see once I get into the inner working of both kits.
martinfan5 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 I have heard all the talk as well, so it will be nice to see some one do it, I know I am going to, just not at the moment, I want to see how it turns out and see what its going to take. I was thinking about maybe using the 2010 GT500 as the donor
mrmike Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I wish you good luck on that build, Jonathan! The Story It is late at night and McNally sits in his car watching his client's business and thinking about ADA Scotson and the recently released Jake Colemark whom seems to be watching the ADA. McNally brought along his notes from his investigation of the murder of the store clerk to review them. Maybe he had missed something along the way. He starts thinking about his frame of mind during that investigation...was he distracted by something? Was there someone else that he could have talked to? It is late and there is nothing going on at his clients business as the Boston PI sits, waits, and watches. The Build I started removing mold lines from the body. At first glance they don't seem to be that bad, but the more I sanded, the more they stood out. They are found on all four corners of the body. And, across the top of the rear fenders. McNally will return...
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I don't know what it is about this kit but I really want one knowing that there is no way a Snap Tite kit will meet my expectations.
mrmike Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Dirk, my only expectation for this kit was that it would fit the full detail kit chassis. That appears to be so, but I am now thinking about the interior plate. Can I swap it with the full detail kit interior plate and use the the snap kit side panels without too much modification? The reason I bring this up is that the full detail kit chassis plate has the engine bay inner fenders and the snap kit does not. I am comparing these parts as I write this and my initial thought is to remove the rear seat from one and attach it to the other. The inner fenders are molded in such a way that I would end up making a mess out of them...so a simpler solution is needed...remove the rear seat from one for the other. I was hoping for a simple swap, but the engineering from the full detail kit varies from the snap kit. This type of swap wil require some careful planning.
martinfan5 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Mike, thanks for the info , I hope there is way to be able to make a full convert kit . I will be getting back to work on my eleanor 2 as soon as the other resin pieces get here. Dirk, you never got back to me about the parts you were asking me about.
Olskoolrodder Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 This is gunna be fun to watch,Mike! I have a few of each versions ('10 GT,GT500 and the snapper),enough to build a full detail of each varient (HT and ragtops of each),so you know I'm planning on giving it a try or three myself down the road . Looking forward to seeing yours!
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Steve, are you going to get back to building anytime soon?, why did stop?, or you just not posting your work?
Olskoolrodder Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Been in a slump, mosty brought on by a combination of lack of time, cylcing and my spinal issues acting up (not related to or corrisponding with the cycling). I'll be trying to get going this week on something (not sure what),and this Friday starts that 96 hour build elsewhere I'd mentioned, building an AMT '25 Model T for that...I'll get on that Bullitt soon after that though,it's ALMOST done,LOL! No,believe me,if I was building,I'd be posting I go through spells with modeling, like everything else...I'll do nothing but sling glue for a time, then won't have any interst for a time while I'm off doing something else,LOL
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Well the resin side scoops came today, cant use them as the casting was really bad and thin, so looks like I am using the kit scoops now
Devilsnake98 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 That's a bummer Jonathan, but I bet you'll still make the kit ones look cool on it, any updates on you're body kit? Just curious.
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 (edited) Ryan, I am going to get a pic posted up today, I have been waiting on the scoops so I could contiune, now I can , well need more putty now Edited February 27, 2012 by martinfan5
Devilsnake98 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Its taking shape and looking cool. Ps, I like the r34 in the background too, one of my fav non- American cars ever.
martinfan5 Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 I know its hard to see in the pics, I should be able to get some primer on it soon, so it will be easier to see how its looking. The body is waiting to clear coated, Its in the foreign CBP I have going on
martinfan5 Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Here is the how eleanor 2 looks now with some primer on it, I am having a hard time getting good pics of this one, still a lot of work still do on the body mods, but its getting there.

Danno Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Thanks I am waiting on a replacement hood *cough from the GT500 KR kit *cough to use on this one Can't help you there. Although I once had a GT495 marked down from 500. - That slapstick humor thing, again, Jim.

mrmike Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 The Story A 1980's Chevy Malibu 4-door sedan slowly drives by the machine shop that McNally is watching and returns a couple of minutes later. He gets out of his Charger with his camera to get a picture of the license plate when an explosion in front of the shop goes off. The Malibu speeds away while McNally quickly snaps a few pictures before the car rounds the corner and disappears. He calls the fire department on his cellphone and waits for them to arrive. After the fire is out, the fire inspector and police arrive and questions McNally. He must get home to view the pictures on the larger screen of his computer and maybe, just maybe, have a picture of the Malibu's license plate. The Build I made a template of the engine bay so I could remove the excess plastic from the convertible body. Out came the Dremel with a cutting disc and I started cutting. There are two mounting studs under the cowl that I removed in anticipation of removing some of the extra plastic from the cowl. McNally will return...
martinfan5 Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 I am almost ready to start painting E2, I just need to smooth out the body work, and do a final check to see how everything looks , so hopefully sometime this week.
