Modellpularn Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 (edited) This one was built in the early 90's. Don't think I've shown it before, memory fade..... Chassis is from an MPC "Mount n' Goat" The rest is from the "Trabbi" kit. Wow Virgil, you're an early bird. Had a little computer trouble.... I think the mufflers came from the parts box. Exhaust pipes from the engine was made from solder. Edited October 21, 2011 by Modellpularn
Chuck Most Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hadn't thought of trying THAT with a Trabant!
RodneyBad Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 (edited) Looks Very Cool.. Great Idea... Mmmm, I have one and parts of a Suzuki Samurai Edited October 22, 2011 by RodneyBad
robertw Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 A Communist rock crawler, clever idea that has been well executed.
Jeff Johnston Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 you probably won't believe me, but I swear I saw one of these following me recently here in Southern NH. My son was driving and I kept looking behind me trying to figure it out. We took a left and when it went by it looked (as my son said) "like the Harry Potter car on a Jeep frame". It was black, and very weird in a cool way (if that makes sense) LOL. I can't say I didn't like it...
CEKPETHO BCE Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Wow haven't seen a trabant since I last visited Hungary about 5 years ago. Nice model
Modellpularn Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 Thanks for your positive comments guys! How come I built it, you might wonder..... I guess it was one of those crazy ideas that comes from tinkering with different parts. "Hmmm, this Jeep chassis looks about right for the Trabant" Paint is some Testors rattle can red. Doesn't sound like a big deal. You guys have all the paint over there, but here in Sweden we always had Humbrol. Sometime in the early 70's, Pactra appeared on the modeling scene. I've painted a lot of models using Pactra paint. I got some Testors paint sent to me by my sister, who worked as a nanny in Carmel in the mid 80's. I still have a lot of those cans unused.
Tony T Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 That's one way to make it reliable!! Nice job!!
