Hi, I'm new to the hobby and this is going to be my first attempt, I didn't know where to start and had lots of questions but have found some answers lurking the forum and I started gathering all my tools and materials. I still have lots of question.... and I just started :( .

I choosed a 2006 Mustang level 2 to start... Well lets see how it goes:

This is My workplace :)

After a few Hours painting and next day assembling, I started with the engine ... a few problems here and there mostly due to the lack of attention but.... It is ready to go :) .

Welcome. I remember my first build. When I started I figured it would be the only one I ever did. And when I was done, I thought I had built something nice. What a joke. I've built over a hundred I guess by now. And models I thought were great at the time, I look back on now and laugh at myself. And if you stick with the hobby, likely you'll do the same. There is always a new technique to be mastered. Good luck!

Welcome to the Forum! I can't really remember my first build, It was over 56 years ago, but I have had a lot of fun teaching my kids. You will find that this Hobby can bring great Satisfaction, when what you have pictured in your mind becomes reality.

There are a lot of great model builders on this forum and they are always willing to help new Modelers. If you need help just ask and you will get it on this Forum!

Firstly, welcome to here, and the hobby! :) Like Tom said, you can find a lot of satisfaction and fun with model building, and there's a LOT of really awesome people in the hobby (and active on these forums),some of the best poeple I've "met" anywhere (and I've been all over the country literally thousands of times when I was a trucker). You won't have to feel like a noob for long, and generally people on these forums (this one particularly) are very quick to help,so please don't ever hesitate to ask if you have any questons.

Looks like you're off to a great start, that engine looks good, and you have a nice place to set up shop too. :D

There's an on going-never ending CBP (that's "Community Build Project",where people all build the same thing or similar, and post them all together) for these Revell kits ('06-present Mustang kits) you should check out as well, see the CBP section (there's several similar CBP's going for Mustangs of various generations),you might gain some info, tips and definately some inspiration for your build there. I'll even save you the trouble of scrolling down to find it,LOL,here's a link to the thread... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49069&st=60 ...

Have fun with it,this is a fairly straight forward and fun kit to build (I built one a few years back when a new kit,and am gearing up to start at least one varient of it soon).

:D

I can't wait to see more of it,and feel free to share it in the CBP as well :D

Hi, Thank you for the welcome guys. I'm going to take this first project as a "try as many things as you can thing" I will try to practice diferent techniques I've read thru the forum and learn :) . Thanks for the CBP tip, I didn't know that part of the forum. And I will probably bug you guys with a few questions now and then.

Well, I painted the chasis, put a little detail on it, assembled suspension and put engine and radiator in place. So this is how it looks so far. This is not easy :( . But it is lots of fun :) .

Looks great for a first time. Key thing that I still have yet to master is....Patience Patience Patience. Get that down, and you will go along way.

Tks guys, Yeah lots of patience, I am taking my time trying to detail as much as I can with my limited experience.... none LOL . I try to sand mold lines and I am just getting the hang of the airbrush. I need to keep my hand steadier with the brush for detailing too. But overall I am enjoying it very much.

I am taking the advise of the wise old man from Toy Story "You can't rush art" :) .

Thank you guys.

Welcome and you're doing a nice job there. Your detail painting looks good and is giving nice contrast.

Don't think you have to try everything at once, just whatever feels good at the time. My first model car was in 1958 and I seem to still find new things to try every build. Maybe just one or two things, but they add up fast and bring you skills forward faster than you'd think.

Tks guys,

Well, yeah now that I am more into it i can see that I will not be able to apply some stuff I wanted to try. But it is being a nice learning experience.

I just finished painting seats and engine bay with a few details here and there, I still have to finish door panels, console, give it a semi-gloss finish and I also want to put some carpet on that floor, let see how it goes. This is the little progress I have made so far.

I think it's looking GOOD! Nice color combo choice too :D

Like he said up here,I wouldn't worry too much if there are things you aren't up to trying just yet,it's your first build and is looking AWESOME for being anywhere near a first build. You've got natural talent,my friend, keep going B)

It always amazes me how every once in a while, someone will show up and have their first build turn out better than my twenty-eighth!! Awesome work man! You're a natural for sure!!

Tks guys, The thing that is taking me longer to figure out is the airbrush and paint mixing, but all the interior was airbrushed. I am really nervous about the exterior paint, I will take it really easy with that one, I am preparing all the exterior parts as mush as I can.

This is just too much fun :) .

thank you for all your input and your help,

A little more work to the interior, not really happy about the carpet but hopefully next one will turn out better than this. Also chassis and interior are one piece now.

So this is how it looks so far:

That looks great for a first build. Man, I know my first build didn't look like that.

Take your time with the body and you will be fine. There are plenty of great tips on this site on how to paint the body. Remember, the more prep time you put into it the better the paint will look.

Body paint's not so hard, just be sure to keep a steady distance and speed back and forth across as you spray, and do light coats so as not to gob-it-up and run,as good as you've done so far, this will be the easy part :)
