Swifster Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 As the heading says, how do you display your completed models. Open shelf, enclosed case? What do you do?
crazyjim Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Some are in Carney Plastic displays and some are in my homemade display cases.
GeeBee Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I've been using these acrylic showcases since the mid 1990's and I get them custom made to my measurements
mr cheap Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 i saw a navy tom cat home made case had a mirror on the bottom of the base showed the bottom of the bird /// that was so nice the under side was highy detailed the best kit i ever seen i have a few cases the rest set on the shelf and get dusted 1 time a year
Rob Hall Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Display case w/ glass doors and glass shelves.
ChevyFan Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 What's a completed model? Been quite a while since I had one of them. Otherwise, they are in a couple different cabinets with glass front doors. Keeps most of the dust off.
Qwit Pushin Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Open shelves currently, however, I just purchased a very nice lighted display case from a local hobby shop going out of business, so will be transferring many to that shortly. Looked on Craigslist for some, but either they were overpriced or in questionable condition.
Harry P. Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Large bookshelf units from IKEA with glass doors to keep the dust out.
Jantrix Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I'm going to need a custom sized case for my shop truck trailer combo. I'll have to find a local company.
Evil Appetite Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) I don't have much space, so i'll rotate them and display them on various shelves through out the house. the ones that aren't displayed go into the box. One of the department stores here has these big tall glass curio type cabinets for $200 bucks each. I'll be picking a couple of those up in the new year Edited November 18, 2011 by Evil Appetite
Jon Cole Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 More pics, please! Want to see... especially glass & acrylic cases.

Mine are in those "displaly cases" like Lindberg and AMT make. I have only 13 cases. Nuff said about my ability to complete a model. I must say that those Ikea bookcases are looking pretty good!

Dragline Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Put it back in the box it came in [if it fits], and drag them out when someone shows the least little bit of interest. So basically they stay in their original box [if it fits]. Bob
Dr. Cranky Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Individual display cases up on shelves. Harry, I've been meaning to looking into getting a couple of those. How many models do you think will fit into one?
Greg Pugh Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Individual display cases on their own shelves. I don't allow anything other than my model cars and their trophies/awards on those shelves.

High octane Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I have a couple of well made good sized curio cabinets with glass front, sides, and shelves to display my built models and aslo my Danbury & Franklin Mint Collection. If I get the urge to finish a whole bunch of models, I may have to get one of those Carney display cases also. Seems like I do well at buying and not so well completing models for some reason.
walt francis Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 This is my enclosed display case and I have all my others in single cases
disabled modeler Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I use display cases and in the future will be in a store display cabinet with lights....otherwise I use model boxes to store them in.
peekay Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I have a cabinet with sliding glass doors which cost me nothing and an Ikea cabinet. I have Ikea lighting in both. (I can't understand people who put their nicely built models on an open shelf to collect dust).
Dr. Cranky Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Oh boy, what a great bunch of pure-eye-candy pics. Thanks you, it's made my morning.
