Jeremy5.0 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 http://s1237.photobu...f480/JeremyJFK/ Sorry this is a re-post the first one I messed up the pictures, hopefully it works this time. This is an old 1950 Mercury MPC super snap kit. I wanted to actually finish a model so I built this one. I painted this with Model Master British green metallic enamel and did the trim with bare-metal foil. The original chrome was pretty bad so I re-painted all of it. I didn't want to do anything with the interior so I blacked out the windows. This is my first post so I thank you for looking.
MrObsessive Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Here's your pic Jeremy and welcome! Nice looking Merc!
Chuck Most Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Builds like this are the reason I don't slag snap kits. Very nice.
Draggon Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Great job. I have one of these that has stalled out because the parts fit is pretty horrible.
Bernard Kron Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Very nice! Color, stance, paint, and trim are all spot on. And I have recently begun to think curbsides and slammers have their benefits since they offer a more direct approach between the builder and their vision of the final result. This is a great example. I think the darkened windows look cool and emphasize the excellent overall look of this ride.
W-409 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Really nice build, great color choice. I have that kit too, and I'm actually building it as a Police car with some Custom parts. Pretty much box stock, but not exactly. But you said, it's '50 Mercury. Many people say, that it's 1950, but the box top says it's '49... What is is really?
Draggon Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 The first version of the kit, released in the 80's, maroon with scallop decals was billed as a 1950. I never noticed until now that the Police version is labelled '49!
