Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 G'day guys... Just finished this Revell 09 Challenger... It's mostly stock with the exception of the PE detail kit from Geronimo Works & custom made " bigger" stock wheels. Colour is true 1:1 Envy Green. Hope you like it, Cheers Cliffo....
Dr. Cranky Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 The color is perfect, and the model rocks! Great job.
wraith Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 AWESOME! Looks just like one we have on the showroom floor right now at work!
crazyjim Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Your build suits your handle - it is sick! Gorgeous and it's SHINY :)
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks guys! Wraith... You're 1 lucky dude! Cheers Cliffo!
Mopar - D Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Cliffo great turn out on your Challenger. What's next on your bench.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Gday D... Mate the bench is full! Lol! Got a Merc' SLS, Magnum & Aston DBS sitting there as I post... None of which are stock ?? Cheers Cliffo!
Moparkid13 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Cliff that looks awesome with the wheels. And the paint and detail is remarkable
LAone Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 man this looks sweet bro. the wheels make this one look tough.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks guys, much appreciated! Judging by nearly everyone's comments I guess Revell screwed up with their under-sized tyre/wheel combination?! Tyres too big & rims too small... Hear that Revell? ;-) Cheers Cliffo :-)
Yahshu Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 That's sweat, love the paint job, how did you do those wheels?
W-409 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I absolutely like it! Great color choice and shiny and smooth paintjob is great combination. I haven't seen much green Challengers, but looks like green fits nicely on this body. Great job all around, clean build and I can't find any mistakes. Maybe smaller wheels would fit better in my opinion, but those aren't bad anyway...
Cool Hand Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Nice clean build as always Cliffo,I like what you did with the rims. The green is a cool and different, but me being me I like the black one you built a year or 2 ago that little bit more than this one
Guest Sickfish Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Phil I see your from my part of the World, what state mate? Wheels were simple enough to do.... Had a set of Aoshima Professor 20s in my stash. These are a 2-piece, consisting of rim & chrome lip, as are most Aoshima 20s. I cut out the rim & cut up the stock Challenger rim to fit inside the "new" Aoshima rim. Bit of sanding here'n'there & bam in it goe's! For the front chrome lips I sanded down a little so as the rears have the deeper look. That's it! Here's some pics on how to do it... These are the Aoshima wheels I chopped up These are the custom spares that come with the kit ( as example of how/what to cut/sand on stock wheels ) And this is what you should end up with... Niko thanks mate! But in all honesty the wheels on new Mopars, especially the Challengers/Magnums & Chargers need to big as big as they are or they look really undersized... & my conversion get's them to be 20in like the 1:1's... The kit rims are realistically only 18s with oversized tyres to make up for the 2in undersized rims... But cheers & thanks for your comments, much appreciated! Cliffo! :-)
Guest Sickfish Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Nice clean build as always Cliffo,I like what you did with the rims. The green is a cool and different, but me being me I like the black one you built a year or 2 ago that little bit more than this one G'day Luke! Cheers & thanks buddy! You mean this baby... ?? There still might be another Chally left in me yet... I've got a 250ml can of Furious Fuschia to use.... ;-) Cliffo :-)
camaroman Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Cliff, I love it... Working on one these right now with my 6 yo Granddaughter. She has hand painted most of the engine. I have not picked a color yet for the body. I love the wheel conversion. It just "looks right" for these cars.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Glenn... That's great mate! Don't see too many kids making models these days & I applaud your achievement in getting your Grand-daughter to help you out... :-) Just a head's up, the hood ( underneath) will need some sanding, approx' 1mm off, to get it to fit & sit down properly. It's thicker than the front fenders & you'll only notice it's too tight after you've attached the front valance, & obviously the layers of paint won't help. Get it mocked-up, before painting, ( hopefully you haven't as yet?) & you'll see what I mean ;-) Cheers & thanks for the great complements mate! Cliffo :-)
Ryan S. Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 The Chally came out great Cliff! That green is beautiful and the bigger rims make a huge difference! Well done!
Guest Sickfish Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Cheers & thank you Ryan! It's quite a compliment & much appreciated coming from a skillful builder like yourself :-)
