outlaw105 Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Well I decided I will post a few pictures of a 79 Camaro 10.5 car i just started. Heres a few pics of the chassis in the works. Hope the pics work I only have done this a couple of times LOL.
eviltwincustoms Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Great job thus far.... I will have to take note, been wanting to build a 10.5 car.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 That's going to look mean. Keep it going, please.
tyrone Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Okay,,, looking good. I like it, keep us posted, I'll be watching this one.
gasser59 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Ok, so what's a 10.5 car? I should know this but don't so would someone enlighten me please?
eviltwincustoms Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Ok, so what's a 10.5 car? I should know this but don't so would someone enlighten me please? All I know is the class has to do with the size of the Rear Slicks (10" slicks or 10.5") not sure.. and the Front clip from the firewall forward must be the original chassis of that car being used. I think the rest of the car can be a tube chassis. It isn't the same class as an Outlaw 10.5, but I do have the requirements for ADRL Extreme 10.5.
Prostreet Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Nice chassis work, will be watching this one.
outlaw105 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Thanks guys for the compliments.. Bart your spot on with the outlaw 10.5 explanation and Andy C. lol that was a good one! Im working on the front suspension right now and will post more pictures when I get that done.
brett Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Chassis looks good man ! Are you keeping it as a t top or filling them in?
W-409 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I haven't seen much '79 Camaros being built Drag Cars. Great to see one. And that frame construction looks very good, really great scratchbuilding. Can't wait to see more, very interesting subject.
outlaw105 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Got a small update, the front suspension is getting there but I still have a pretty good amount of work to do. Upper a-arms and engine plate are done. I also finished the front of the chassis and shortend the frame... Thanks Brett and Niko. Brett I haven't decided if I will keep the t-tops or not, they kinda look cool in there. Edited December 1, 2011 by outlaw105
outlaw105 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Oh and one more thing, for those that might be wondering about the engine combo....... It will be SCREW BLOWN!
tyrone Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Looking good, I like those upper a-arms, what did you use for those,, brass...keep up the good work buddy... Edited December 1, 2011 by tyrone
outlaw105 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Thanks Thumper and Tyrone... The a-arm's were a pain , since i didn't have anything else I actually had to use stainless steel nails and cut both ends off, then bent them to shape.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Oh and one more thing, for those that might be wondering about the engine combo....... It will be SCREW BLOWN! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pharr7226 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks Thumper and Tyrone... The a-arm's were a pain , since i didn't have anything else I actually had to use stainless steel nails and cut both ends off, then bent them to shape. Nails... that had to be a pain. The look great. Did you use a jig to make them symmetrical?
outlaw105 Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks, I didn't use a jig, but I paired them both and bent them together.... Like I said they were a pain.
Keef Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Looks awesome so far! I'll be keeping an eye on this one!
Greg Pugh Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Wow-wee! This is fantastic. Can't wait to see more!!
