Fuel Coupe Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Here's one that's been on my to list for a while. The Panella Bros. super sano 40 willys P.U I'm trying to find the back story on the truck but all I have been able to find is that Bab Panella bought the truck from Al Del Porto who ran it in A/GS Bob rebuilt the car and put a 675 H.P. small block blown Chevy in built by Bones Balogh in '63. The truck was a rolling advertisement for the Panella Bros. truck Business. The hired gun was Joe Morris who won several events including the Winternationals. Well, That's all I got, Here's a few pics.
1320wayne Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Is that a resin cab Shane, and if so who makes it?
Fuel Coupe Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Yes Wayne its a Drag City Castings Body by Ed Fluck
Fuel Coupe Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 I'll bet this is gonna be good......... I'm certainly going to try HAHA
Mooneyzs Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Shane... this is going to be a great build. I am looking forward to seeing progress on this. It is a neat looking race car.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Wow, some wonderful modifications to the chassis. Keep it going, please.
noname Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 This is cool. Make sure you get the stance right. Very important. How does this thing sit at rest? The pic shows it up in the front but that is porbably because the front end doesn't want to stay on the ground.LOL
gasser59 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 This looks like a great project and your progress is looking great. I'll certainly be watching this one.
Fuel Coupe Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 (edited) Matt and Dave, Last night I went through the AMT kit and am looking at using the bed from that kit Dave, I used the back edge of an xacto blade to cut the spindle apart. Thanks for all the comments Edited November 30, 2011 by Fuel Coupe
Nitrozilla Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Great subject Shane and a great start too. Nice job separating the spindles. Why do I keep seeing "Big John Mazmanian" on the door panels ?? Edited December 1, 2011 by Batzilla
Dragline Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I'm on board Shane. And sorry for being so tardy with my own builds bro. I've been busy with a few other things. Trust me when I say I'll be back to finish my Bud King and Reher Morrison builds soon, as well as some others I didn't let on to. Gosh, this is lookng like a great start. I loved the Surfers build so much I now have it as desktop wallpaper. That's what i think of what you do broski. Bob
Fuel Coupe Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Aww shucks Bob I flattered I mean that... I hope I can do this truck a little justice... Here's the ride height and the AMT bed which needed a little tweaking but it looks way better than the Revell bed. I will show you this pic to demonstrate that the little truck did go through some height adjustments So in short I probably should have posted a pic of the truck Not in motion. Thanks for the keen eye guys... Edited December 1, 2011 by Fuel Coupe
Fuel Coupe Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 Yes Dave I could, I have tried casting them but have had mixed results...
W-409 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 After seeing your FrontEngineDragster, I can't wait to see more. Your building talents are amazing. The start looks very good, tires and wheels are really nice. Keep it going.
Mooneyzs Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Shane.. You have nailed it with the ride height. Your mock up with the amt bed looks great next to the side view of the real car. Keep up that great work.
rustybill1960 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Yes indeed! Your scoring a triple run with this build! Great subject Great progress and Kit Great Looking Thank You for sharing I am gonna watch this one Later Russ
Fuel Coupe Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) Ok guys, heres a small update. I decided to cut the doors open on the body which has made very frail since its resin. I've reinforced the corners but its still cracke but I have back the corners with a little styrene so thats helped a bunch. Ive narrowed the Moving violation dash and filled the speedometer. I changed the floor to clear the hydro stick I have to still go in a close the gaps around the doors so the gaps are wide for now. I've also added a pic of the nearly completed chassis Edited December 9, 2011 by Fuel Coupe
Truck parts Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Shane, I like what you have done so far,Looking forward to seeing it done.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Keep it going, it's coming along nicely and it's also a great subject matter . . .
Greg Pugh Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I like the way you hinged those doors. Good stuff!
