dimaxion Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I'll also add to the kudos on this Casting . Excellent . I am so underwhelmed when I compare this to an Early Resin Kit . I am glad to experience both . "they just don't make 'em like they usta !" I prefer in the day now stuff thanx ..
Motor City Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I didn't know it was available as I hadn't seen an update on this forum and it wasn't on the website. How much does it cost? Thanks.
kevin Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Jim they are 75.00 + shipping, are you far from metro detroit? maybe i dont have to ship to you!
Motor City Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Kevin, I'll email you. I've been to the Macomb C.C. show a few times. Thanks. Jim
vairnut Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 2 of the 1911 Chevy kits arrived the day after sent. Great Job by Missing Link for getting this one out. Parts fit is very nice and quality of the casting is like other stuff from them - top notch. Never knew the original kit was a snap together - must have been close to the first for that in 1961. Thanks Kevin - one big missing hole in kit history that's now obtainable and buildable !
dimaxion Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Update .. for this kit , Kevin now has the correct NON-Black tires for the Purist like me . Black Tires were not invented nor available until 1914 from the research I've done . Thanx ..
Chuck Most Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Looks like I need to scrape together a little cash.
kevin Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 The Model Car Builder's Museum has a website, so a search will pull that up. Alternately, Tom Geiger is well-connected, and I'm sure he'd be happy to act as a conduit for you, or at least give you some direct contact informaiton. Charlie Larkin charlie send me a pm or email!
kevin Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Ok guys there wil be NO white rubber tires, we cant get a good color withour ruining the strength of the rubber! sorry black rubber is the only color rubber i can get! Kevin
Greg Wann Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Perhaps SMOOTH-ON Clear Flex 30 can be tinted white.
Greg Wann Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) http://www.smooth-on.com/Urethane-Rubber-an/c6_1117_1145/index.html Hey Kevin, Try this for your tires for this project. It is white in color but will be a pain to mix. I picked up some samples today from my Tempe Reynolds advanced material store. I asked about your tires and he showed me this. Greg Wann Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 (edited) You are welcome, Kevin. Your castings of this kit will look awesome with white tires made from this product. The specs for this product is very good too. It is weird how a material like this will eventually become a liquid again. The only other suggestion I can make to you is to switch resin to the TASK 8. You can boil your parts in water with little adverse effects on them. Good luck my fellow casting friend! I made a mold of Mike Schnur's Fox body and tried venting it sort of your way and they come out amazingly nice. Flash is the thinnest it has ever been. I am very happy! Greg Wann (pronounced like I "won" something) Edited July 21, 2015 by Greg Wann
Greg Wann Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 After thinking about my last I had better not pat myself on the back too quickly! I sure don't want tires in this kit to turn to liquid. I will do more homework for this myself. This might be why some kits from other companies have parts problems years down the road. Nobody pays attention to product specifications.Greg
kevin l Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Gregi know aobut the task line of products, i use task 4 for most of what i sell, i dont think 8 will be rubber like fromw what i remember
Greg Wann Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 TASK 8 is not rubber like. You can boil the parts in water. Specs say it will handle around 260 degrees. More than enough to take the heat in interior car parts for a real car.
Eric Macleod Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 I just received my kit in the mail today. I can't wait to post a WIP as I build up this model. First impressions are very good. This one was worth the wait. Thanks Kevin.
kevin l Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Thanks for the kind words Eick, happy modeling! Kevin

lizardlust Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Ordered mine late last week - just arrived this afternoon. How's THAT for fast?? Thanks again, Kevin!!
mredjr Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 I thought 62 was Chevrolet anniversary year. I had a oval frame gold tented wall mount bubble with a 1912 Chevrolet in the top and a 1962 golden anniversary Chevrolet in the bottom. It was given to me buy a man that had a Chevrolet/Buick dealership a got it in 1962 for the amount of sales he had that year. On the box it said 50th Anniversary.
