Dr. Cranky Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Wow, that's one cool engine, and beautiful car.
Modelmartin Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) 4-cam Hemi head V8 with a blower. Most Pegasos ( they built about 80 of them) had multiple carbs. Pegaso was and still is a truck and bus manufacturer. The sports cars were built by the apprentices! It would be like Kenworth deciding to put out an exotic sports car. They are awesome cars. MrObsessive Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) That is a beautiful car, and I happen to have a 1/43 kit of it! Here's a '56 coupe version of that car................. Gorgeous! Edited December 6, 2011 by MrObsessive
62rebel Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 the most expensive engine in that era..... for good reason!

SoCalCarCulture Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Here's more on that '56, took these a couple months ago at the Del Mar Concours d'Elegance ... ...this one obviously has dual carbs... More pics of it here

Hemi refers to a hemispherical combustion chamber - not exclusive to the Mopar 426!
george 53 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Eelco, The Euro guys have had 4 cylinder hemi head motors for DECADES!
diymirage Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 i just never heard anyone coll it a hemi before...i mean, ford had the "semi hemi" but i always figured it was a poor marketing plot trying to get a piece of the mopar action
Wayne Buck Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) Hemi refers to a hemispherical combustion chamber - not exclusive to the Mopar 426! Yeppers. Dave hit the nail on the head. Here's a few examples of different styles of chambers that I found doing a quick search for ya Eelco: (hope the image isn't too small to read) Mopar 426 would be like the one on the bottom left- BTW: That is a WICKED COOL looking motor!....and car! Never saw one before TBH. Edited December 7, 2011 by Wayne Buck
tooltas Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 sonny's is chevys come get some if u want some
DustyMojave Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 That Pegaso coupe used to be (maybe still is) owned by a friend of a friend. I consulted with him for fabricating the replacement mufflers. (pair of perforated tubes inside of a partly flattened larger tube) What a SWEET Noise it makes!!!! Peugeot used 4-valve Hemi combustion chambers on their race cars before World War I (that's not a typo...it is "one" not two). The Chrysler Hemi was designed by ex-Ford engineer Zora Arkus Duntov based on his Ardun aftermarket heads for flathead Fords, before he went to Chevy to work on Vettes.
JMD904 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 (edited) That coupe has to be nasty fast! What country does the beauty reign from? Those webers are odd indeed. And, the 4 tail pipes! Edited March 14, 2012 by JMD904
MrObsessive Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Pegasos originate from Spain IIRC..............very rare even when new and even more so today!
MikeMc Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 What would be the top speed of that baby? http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/3971/Pegaso-Z102-BS-3.2-Touring-Spyder.html Top Speed 250 km/h (155 mph)
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 That is a beautiful car, and I happen to have a 1/43 kit of it! Here's a '56 coupe version of that car................. Gorgeous! Hmmm.... apparently somebody from Pegaso snuck into an Aston-Martin factory and took some photos...
