Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Good to know, Jim. I will keep it in mind. Thanks.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Wow, Jim, I just checked and it is a lot cheaper. THANK YOU! http://www.misterart.com/searchResult/query~.13%2520Rapidograph~
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 Tim, it sure does, I wear my Optivisor and it works very well. I am assuming there's enough ink in one cartridge to do quite a few cars!
crazyjim Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 You advised me about Coast Airbrush (and there's a nice box from them under the Christmas tree) so it's only fair to try and help you - and everyone else. Would you like more advise? Since that pen was expensive, use it only on SHINY :) builds. Ha, ha, ha. Or, keeping it in the season, ho, ho, ho.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 HA! Well, I'm assuming you DON'T KNOW what Santa brought you? Or you do know? HA! Don't get too excited, you know half of my blood runs rusty and gunky. Sorry, I can't help it!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 I am assuming those of you who know a thing or two about Gassers can tell me if I am on the right track with my STYRENE ADDICT build. I hope you can help. Please let me know what you think. Again, it's a Lab-RAT-ory PHANTOM, obviously!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Well, I knew it was bound to happen, EYEGORE found out Doctor Cranky was driving a phantom gasser, and so he wanted his own. Here's what we ended up with. Enjoy:
scalenut Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 another great option is the pigma micron pens ,a lot of the miniature builders use them . they go down to 0.2mm and come in a range of colors . you can get them at Michaels and hobby lobby. I used one on my last build for the panel lines and to repair some cracks in the black decal stripes. http://www.dickblick.com/products/sakura-pigma-micron-pen/
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks, Tim. Andy, I'll check them out, thanks.
LoneWolf15 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Virgil , My cabinets are old medical office stock , closest thing out there now can be found at Sears in their tool dept . I believe it is a two shelved unit that can be mounted to a wall .
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks, Donn. I gotta look into it because I do have a little bit of space in the paint room. It might be perfect there.
BKcustoms Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Great looking paint jobs! was the flaked clear on the blue 56 chevy part of the "Paint Shop" line of paints that they sell at auto parts stores? (I think the cans have a 69 camaro on the side)
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 No, Billy, they are exclusively Duplicolor CLEAR FX, rattle can. Along with some Pearl EX underneath . . . in other words, shoot basecoats, graphics, pearls, CLEAR FX flakes, and then CLEAR COAT.
Pro Tech Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 DC some great paint-work going on there, looks like you've been busy! Charlie Pro Tech
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Trying to line up some shiny paint jobs for 2012, that's all!
tabsscale1 Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Trying to line up some shiny paint jobs for 2012, that's all! Looks like you have a great start on projects for next year
Dr. Cranky Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks, Todd, I am trying to . . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 One more day and I get to polish and buff my 70 Chevelle in black. Oh, I can't wait to see how it turns out and share it with you all.
Dave42 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Eyegore's build looks cool too! Love your custom decals. I've got to start making some decals. Seems like everyone here is doing that...
Dr. Cranky Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 The decals, Dave, I had professionally printed, and they cost a small fortune, but I have enough to last me until the end of time, which might actually be this coming year! LOL!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Concerning the 70 Chevelle I have painted black, I just realized I forgot to paint the little strip that goes right under the rear bumper, which is not a problem. Got it in primer, and later I will shoot the paint. Tomorrow I rub and polish the hood and body. I am keeping my fingers crossed because this one might be the best black paint job I've ever pulled off. Stay tuned in, please . . ..
Erik Smith Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Paint jobs all look fantastic Virgil. Love the green on "Money Honey" 32. You are tempting me to get some templates/filters.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Erik, you can start your collection of templates with the next time you go to the grocery store. Look in the produce section at the onion bags, potatoes, oranges, etc . . . there's cheese cloth or other type of packaging you can spray paint through. Any kind of mesh will work.
Cool Hand Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Look foward to seeing the 70 Chevelle Doc. It just so happens im also building one and paiting it black too. So bring on the eye candy and inspiration.
