What looked like a cool kit was their new 77 GMC wrecker,It's all fine and dandy except for one thing. The engine bay.It is the saddest engine bay I have ever seen. There is a block that you attach a carb too and thats it.Excuse me for my grammer skills but im rage typing right now. Also this is a big surprise to me aswell because of revell's usual quality of their kits.

Something you need to keep in mind, this kit was originally tooled in 1977, so it's not up to todays detail standards. It was originally released as the Captain Hook in black. This was mentioned in every reveiw of this kit.

If you want to build a good version of this truck, do like I'm doing with the last issue, put the bed on the other GMC truck that Revell has coming out (the one with the plow). It's a much better kit.

Nothing to be surprised about...it's a reissue of an old kit... I wouldn't have expected them to retool it.

Well see I got TWO of these for an early Christmas family party,When I got both I was estatic with joy.Now Im thinking about making a new engine bay from scratch,Any idea how hard that would be?Also note that im just now getting into scratch building.

Geez...."VERY Angry"? and in a "rage"??? Over a plastic model kit? Methinks you need to take a step back and re-evaluate your choice of hobby my friend. No need to work yourself into a heart attack over some styrene plastic! :)

I have been testing the tow bed with other trucks and it almost perfectly fits my 65 Chevy stepside. And it looks nice.On another note I also scored Revells Kurtis Midget racer and I am overwhelmed with detailing joy for a box stock revell kit. Also Realize that this was posted about 2 or 3 minutes after I opened the box and saw that sad engine bay, also the news of revells 77 GMC with snowplow that has a nice engine bay didn't help the matter. All is well now and I can kitbash to my hearts content.

do a search in the workbench section, i know i have seen someone build a previous incarnation of this kit and do just that

just like anything else we do, its possible

Yes I agree that is unacceptable. You will have to cut that out and find a suitable engine and underhood details!I know you should not have to but what else can you do?

Meh, at least yours probably came with the parts tree with the grille and wheels, mine is mysteriously absent. :P

No biggy though, it's going to be a flatbed and I'm going to build a custom grille.
