Tony T Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Cool build, Rob! Nice weathering there, Donn...can't wait to see you get this together! Thanks for the update Video, Doc (& Eyegore)...Cool to see my build in there! I gotta find me more bench time...haven't had nearly enough lately. Life just getting in the way!! All good!!
LoneWolf15 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Thanks , T Stripped all the kit chrome this morning , now I have to remove all the mold lines , glue the exhaust stacks and fuel tanks together and seal off the seam lines . Next up , shooting the parts with aluminum metallizer and start scratch building the rear platform . Real eye opener at the hobby shop today when Bob rang up the the scratch building supplies!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 It adds up, doesn't it. I just dropped over a hundred dollars in supplies myself today. It's all for a good cause, right?
ZombieHunter26 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I'm gonna be dropping about that much come pay day (my first big check finally comes in next week) on stuff I've got on hold from the CLEARANCE rack at the LHS... Two nice big display cases for the two dioramas that I'm gonna be making, some plastruct crater sheets, ballast, brick will sheets, and some flocking/foliage. On a slightly related note, I've been holding out on you guys again...(I do this from time to time) I have yet another secret build I've been cooking up over the course of the month. Building it wasn't the problem, it was coming up with the idea... I bought (before I found out that I could have gotten an entire kit from Tamiya) a 1/25 Toyota Trueno body from a model racing shop while I was in Myrtle beach. Needless to say I built it curbside because of the thickness of the bodywork, because trying to remove the hood and make it workable would have taken WAY to much time. (and I probably would have sliced a finger off in the process) I've got it sitting on the bench drying in primer. I'll let you guys squirm a bit in the anticipation of seeing what I've done with it ....I'll post pictures soon.
LoneWolf15 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 It adds up, doesn't it. I just dropped over a hundred dollars in supplies myself today. It's all for a good cause, right? Oh ! So addiction is now considered a good cause ? Lol ! I dropped about the same , Virg . Sanded down all the formerly chrome plated parts, total pain in the behind ! Hope to have it all in metallizer tomorrow morning and weathered . Slow but sure .....
001slick001 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Here's the exo-cage I did. In hindsight I should have pulled it in much closer to the body. hey Jantix remember this car? that was such a fun build. Edited April 27, 2012 by 001slick001
Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Looking forward to it, Donn, and everyone. As we head into the fun summer months, I hope you all keep in mind that although there's plenty of time to complete one or several of these builds, it's my job (rather, GENERAL EYEGORE's job!) to rally the troops. And so, of those of you on the fence about joining in, it is never too late. Besides, here's a picture that I know will get you to fight on the right side of the Zombie Hunting Wars . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 August, wonderful builds, I copied them to the archives for the next video update. Thanks for keeping the eye candy coming.
Jantrix Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 hey Jantix remember this car? that was such a fun build. Yeah, that was a great build off. Lots of great ideas.
Foxer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 a very small update as I've been waiting for some parts. I did come upon a shovel I plan to make into a bomber seat. It has the right size and shape and just needs some sheet wrapped around it for a back. The cylinders are for the seat swivel (the short ones) and the machine gun swivel mount, the long one. The seams are tough to see, but they were just made from two tubes. The shaft has a larger tube slice glued to the base while the sleeve has a smaller tube half it's length glued toward the top. The sleeve will glue to the floor and trap the base, allowing the shaft to rotate. I almost think I should have sketched it up to be clearer. Coming up with a solution like this is what I love about this hobby ... simple and effective.
ZombieHunter26 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Ok, so I've let you squirm long enough on what I've done on my secret build- I'd like to introduce Crosshair. Once a Toyota Sprinter Trueno, it began its new life after the apocalypse as a 'marksman' vehicle. Equipped with a Solar Panel, armor cage, and turret mounted rail rifle, it is a formidable foe to both living and undead alike. The windows have been replaced with steel plating, and the chassis has been sealed off. Before I continue, let's look at the primer photos- more past the break....
ZombieHunter26 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I forgot to mention, the rear tires have tire shredders installed on them. You'll see in the pics to come- Paint! (no dirt, yet D: ) more past the break...
ZombieHunter26 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 one more after the break... And that's that until I pick up my diorama supplies, sand, and ballast next week. It's ALMOST done!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Rob, you are building some amazing stuff. I think you already have a fleet of your own. I think you've built like 20 of these machines and more coming. WOW. BTW--I copied the pictures for the next update video.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 By the way, those paint drips are very well done. Very cool.
ZombieHunter26 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks Doc! And by my count, I have 10 total, and 2 nearly finished, and 1 I have just started tonight. I also have 5 non TZH builds lol.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 It's all a sign that you are too far gone with the STYRENE FEVERS!
otherunicorn Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Casually applied some tinted goop to the model....
Kit Basher Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Oh yeah! Now that thing is starting to come together! Keep it going, Ken!
Foxer Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Yeah! .. I'm liking that now that it's one color..!!
Dr. Cranky Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 Ken, wonderful progress. I copied the pictures over to the next progress video update. Keep it going, chap. Cheers, DC
Dr. Cranky Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Lordy, a full day without hearing of any progress . . . I guess the troops must be in R&R. Wait until General EYEGORE gets a whiff of this!
LoneWolf15 Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Lordy, a full day without hearing of any progress . . . I guess the troops must be in R&R. Wait until General EYEGORE gets a whiff of this! Nope ! I just haven't found a way to type and build at the same time ! Doggone Generals are always assuming stuff ! Lol ! Tires are finished , weapons are prepped , more detail has been gathered and prepped , and I started scratch building the rear deck ! Tell the General to stick that in his pipe and smoke it ! Battery went dead in the Mustang , I couldn't use the airbrush today ! Otherwise , I'd have all of the aluminum painted and weathered ! Tell the General to go find a fire hydrant ! Lmao !
Zarana-X Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Been working on the interior, nothing interesting to take pictures of yet. Got the "boxes" on the rear shelf to look like cardboard to my satisfaction. Trying to gather up parts for the interior. If only the tool packs on ebay werent so expensive. Edited May 1, 2012 by Zarana-X
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Still waiting on parts. I have procured a 12v71 Detroit in exchange for my 16v71. Chassis is still at the same place because I need to get the cabs.
