Bruce Poage
What are the current thought, methods of stripping chrome from headers, rims, etc. I have used oven cleaner but would like to find something not quite so caustic. Thanks.
martinfan5
I have started using bleech, and it depends on the chrome plating, but I have had the chrome off within hours
Longbox55
Superclean works very well. Most of the time, it'll take the chrome off within a few minuits. Simple Green also works, but not near as fast.
oldnslow
I use Walmart brand Purple Power cleaner, $6 or $7 a gallon in the automotive section. Chrome is gone in about 30 minutes, stripped clean overnight.
martinfan5
I was using the purple stuff, but I found that it work good on some kit chrome, and not so much on others.
Kit Basher
Some guys say it doesn't work for them, but I've had great success with Westley's Bleche Wite. Everything I've tried has been clean and ready to go in 15-20 minutes.

935k3
This works in about 10-15 minutes and removes the undercoat. Rinse thouroghly after use and keep it off your hands.
