brett Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Well it was a cop out , started last night (put frame together) and some sanding. Everything else was done this afternoon. Just going to be box stock with a different paint scheme (as I already have a copout done). Get a load of these injector pin marks Darker pic is a better representation of the colour should be finished tomorrow night.
gasser59 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) For a quickie, this is coming out great Brett. I've never built a CopOut as it seemed to me to be a poor representation of a quality kit but I see there is some hope for a good looking build. Love the blue, what paint did you use? I'll be watchiing this one before it hits your completed kits shelf. Edited January 17, 2012 by gasser59
Evil Appetite Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Those are Pin Marks?? i have a few of these kits. I've opened one when i first bought it and saw those pin marks. Didnt know thats what they were. I thought they MUST of had a purpose and serve some sort of functionality because the ones on mine are so prominent that they look like detail built into the mold! Wow.
eviltwincustoms Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Very cool duster, even looks like that blue has some metal flake in it. I say you have done a very outstanding job on that chassis work.
W-409 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I've built this kit, and quality had to be OK, because I managed to get everything together pretty nicely. That was many years ago. Your build looks very good. Nice paintjob, and color looks very good too. Great job with the chassis also.
57peppershaker Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Thats looking good already Brett. I've also got a Cop Out that wont be built as 'Cop Out'. Looking forward to your progress.
brett Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Thanks guys,First up here's a new pic of my original cop out duster built towards the end of 07 and here's the new version started 2 days ago The blue was a custom mix dupont blue with a bit of pearl white to lighten it and when I 'd painted the body I misted some pearl green around the body lines, hardly visable but you can see it in person in certain lights
SteelyEd Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 You built this in two days? Outstanding work, I couldn't have done this in two weeks!
Mooneyzs Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 You did a great job on this one. Paint and decals turned out great!! Keep upt the great work that you do. Look forward to your next project
Dave Van Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 That came out a lot better than I thought....I've built a few of these.....but really had not thought about something like yours....Nice work! Here was my last Duster build....
Evil Appetite Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) Very nice color...I'm diggin it! I'm assuming those decals are for the polar Lights SD Cuda? Edited January 18, 2012 by Evil Appetite
57peppershaker Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Built in 2 days ??? Dont you sleep at night ? Great build, even better in such a short time.
brett Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Thanks guys, I appreciate it . Mike , yes polar lights cuda. Steve, no I work at night, this was done in the afternoons, Quick breakdown, Monday broke the seal on box, dealt with the little amount of flash and assembled the frame and engine halves. Tuesday , dealt to the injector pin marks on tin, sanded body and put most sub assemblies together. Then primed everything to be painted. An hour or so later painted everything then cleared the body. Wednsday , installed glass then decaled body while glass was held by tape till the glue set. Sanded rear slicks and put wheels and tires on car then foiled to finish.
