Bart asked me to change the title of his thread. He worded it poorly and implied that he was smacking around his dog, which was not the case.

It was just a badly-worded (and misleading) title.

Thanks for your help Harry, and thank you Jon for defending me. After all was said & done, I couldn't help but laugh at my own stupidity for leaving my studio door open with a new puppy in the house. I guess I wanted to hear that I'm not the only one to allow this to happen.

I don't have a dog in my apt., had to leave him back home with my parents but my cat has messed up a couple. Whatcha gonna do right? After all they don't know any better. She also likes to torture our pet crabs by sitting on the cage. i'm tempted to let her get to close to one and have it pinch her to have her learn a lesson lol.

I won't have a cat for a housepet. Cat's and models... bad mix! A cat will knock your model off the bench, then stand there... looking at you, as if to say "So? What's your problem?":P

So true Jon. lol

I remember coming home one day and finding a friend's 3 year old playing on the floor with one of my models . . . so you can imagine how the model must have looked by the time I got home.

Solution: I moved all my models into a locked display case and never left any of my builds laying around.

OK, here's my sympathy story involving my little boy.

We rescued Buddy when he was 10 months old from a dingy little shelter in an even worst section of Brooklyn the end of `10. He was neglected by adults & abused by children. Naturally, he had issues when he came home with us. With some effort and love on our part, he's become an absolutely wonderful addition to our home. But when he was a puppy.....

He thought our stairs were a buffet. He quickly learned not to eat the house, but if he get's a tree branch in the yard,he'll turn it into mulch. Another reason why we cemented over the yard. He used to eat rocks...

But he's adjusted very nicely. Not to mention he grew up to be rather handsome too! He's German Shepherd?Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.

Thanks fastback. I got a couple '61 kits. I really have been wanting one of Resin Realms '61 Olds bodies, so I'm putting a silver lining around this cloud, lol. The unpainted body is all she got, so it should be a pretty straightforward cange-out. It's all water under the bridge, brother!

Now that's a dog!

Quite manly and looks more intelligent than the folks I deal with on a daily basis.

I think we all love dogs , whats not to love. Every puppy wants to chew, its in their nature. Just get them some rawhide chew sticks at Petsmart and get a 55 gal. drum of bitter apple spray for everything in sight . Year or so later they will get over it.

That's how I changed Buddy's mind about eating the house. A spray bottle of Bitter Yuk applied in the right places....

BTW: Before I used it on my boy, I tasted it just for the experience. Next time I'll just lick an Xacto... th_puke.gif

I think a pinch from one of her crab buddies is exactly what she needs! She won't be sitting on their cages so much anymore!

Only once.

In 1982 I was finishing up my first heavily modified project. It was a prostreet Vega based on the USA1 kit. Scratchbuilt frame, roll cage, tubs, firewall, plumbing, treaded slicks, Testors candy cherry red paint with candy blue graphics and lots of clear - it was my best effort yet and represent many months of work. I remember our poodle puppy coming up to me while I was at my desk working on it. I shooed her away. Later I went out. When I came back, on my desk was the Vega now nicely chewed on both ends. My mom was right in the door behind me. She let me know the puppy had gotten to the model. I was pretty upset. But had to understand that it was just what puppies did - after a bit of talking from Mom. The next day there was a new kit of a red 80s Camaro on my desk. She said she could not find a red Vega. (Not a surprise.) I still thought that was pretty cool.

I have two pics of the Vega and enough parts for a one-of-these-days project.

Also - I have always had cats. None of them ever get on my work bench. Go figure.

When I was model railroading in HO scale, I was working on a coaling tower. I left it for a few minutes, and when I came back, my dog was weathering it for me. He actually did a pretty good job, and I just finished it up with paint and chalk. I got many positive comments on it.

My modeling table in general is too high for the dogs to reach... one afternoon last spring, though, a hood ('68 Coronet) I had been cleaning up went missing...found it in the backyard w/ tiny bite marks all over it...hmm. Apparently, the 5lb Yorkie jumped into my chair, then onto the modeling table, grabbed the hood, took it outside, got bored and left it...just glad she didn't pick up a tiny part and choke on it.

Nope...no hitting an animal. My cat, I`ve had with me for 22 years now...she was abused, so I stole her from where she was! Anyway, thats gotta be a tough dog..you`d think that after biting into that hard plastic, he`d drop it and find something else to gnaw on!

Mine does just that, she lays on them. The one spot aside for my hobby room I dont want her to be..and she`s there every chance she gets. I swear she knocks over my Space SHuttle and Apollo rocket on purpose. But...cats are cats, they climb..there isnt anywhere I can put them that she cant access. Whatever..as long as she;s happy

I'm not making comments to stir up any trouble or make any 1 person mad. I just want to be heard of my comments on the following replies that I have just seen.

For comment #1

I to will jump in when there are cats being abused as most people who don't want them just throw them out on the street to defend on their own or get run over by NITWIT drivers who are to busy texting on their phones instead of watching for children, dogs and cats. There are just as many cat's as there are dog's that need help by the ASPCA, but most people aren't to concern about cat's as they are dog's so in my opinion that makes them very selfish and not concerned to much except for only canines instead if their feline friend's too.

For comment # 2

I hate people who abuse animals to, but most people don't want cat's mainly because they can't walk them, they won't fetch, catch frisbee's or won't come to you when you want them to as they have their own personalities but can still love and care for their owner's as much as dog's.

I see here in the Dallas area that there are more cat's than dog's that are running around peoples houses, running astray because of hunger or looking for shelter just because someone adopted it and then decided they didn't want it so they threw it out or they are POISONED :( ( I hate this word) yes POISONED :( and it makes me MAD AS H--L     to know this is done to them.

The shelter's around here will not take no more cat's because they have to many as no one want's them as much as they do dog's, so in the case they end up losing their life for no reason what so ever.

For comment # 3

I have 2 black cats that are dearly loved  , as I have had them going on now 3 years and during this whole time I have not nor have I ever had them to jump on anything and knock my models off of any shelf. I have also taught them not to jump any where models are located at as these area's are their BOO BOO and NO NO zones.

Sorry to take up so much space for my reply, and hope I didn't offend or make any body mad.

Harry, if you have to delete topic you may do so as I don't want people getting mad at what they have looked at...

Thanks
