Modellpularn Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) I bought this ages ago, like mid-late 80's. And it's been sitting idle ever since. I've had it out a bunch of times. Let's see if I can get something done with it this time.... Crazy showrod/custom with a flake paint job. Sitting on lowrider wheels. What do ya think? Edited February 7, 2012 by Modellpularn
george 53 Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 AMT 65 Impala convertable kit! WITH the addon custom front end, no less! Good start, hope to see wat you do with this rascal!!!
Modellpularn Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 I forgot to add, in case you diehard collectors send me nasty messages: I bought it like this! I've been trying to figure out the best way to be creative.... Yes George, it is the AMT annual convertible kit, just as you said.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I think you have the right idea in mind for it. I think it will turn out looking real cool. Go for it.

Casey Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I like it, but that interior is going to be lay-down-to-drive shallow.
James Flowers Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I put that front clip on a Revel Impala .I have been working on mine for a year or so . Yours is the only other one I have seen. I will be watching to see how yours takes shape.
Guest Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Man! That has has some serious cobbling done to it! Looks like it's going to be a lot work.
Modellpularn Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 I found this roof piece. It's from a '66 Buick, so it's the same style. I think it looks pretty good. I got it and the remaning parts from a friend, who made the Buick into a convertible. I'm thinking maybe a half roof/T-top or something like that.
Modellpularn Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) I've decided on the Buick, or stock type roof. So where do I find one....? I suddenly realised I had the perfect donor: a '65 Olds Mod Stocker body! It's just sitting there anyway. And it's butchered, so why not use it? Roof being cut away. Point of no return.... Test fitted, just taped in place. Looks better now, right? I got inspired by a pic on fb, at Don Graham's custom modeling group. Edited February 15, 2012 by Modellpularn
hotrod59f100 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Looks like it belongs there. Edited February 15, 2012 by hotrod59f100
weasel Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 can you set it lower in the body to give the illusion of a chop??
Modellpularn Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 can you set it lower in the body to give the illusion of a chop?? That's what I've done already. A pillars are sunken inside the body 'bout 1/8 inch.
W-409 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 When this is finished, maybe needs to come to CCM Open so I can see this one. Very cool looking Impala, even if I don't usually like '65-'67 Impala Customs, Show Cars etc. But this looks very good, can't wait to see more.
tooltas Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 old cal taga top would look cool go nuts on this car its got that old show car look too it all rite
