Chuck Most Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Started this last year, but just wrapped it up today. Body is a Revell Germany BMW 3/15 PS (which was built under licence to Austin- it was basically an Austin 7 copy, AND illegally copied in Japan as a Datsun, thus opening the door for this project), engine is a Fujimi Nissan S20 DOHC inline six, and the rest was coughed up by the spares box.
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Talk about puttin' ice cream on your mashed potatos! Shake & Bake, that's what I'm talkin' about!
Erik Smith Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Cool Chuck. I love the look of those overhead cam Nissan power plants. Now take that S20 and put it back into a Skyline where it belongs. Oh, or maybe swap out the steel wheels for some Watanabes.
LAone Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 oh man, that is one awesome looking dato. dig the details on the s20 engine and the cider decals is a nice nostalgic touch. i didnt know they even had this car. great info..
kingtoy Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Hell Yeah! Now thats what I am talking about! I had a similar thought, doing a basic ford truck cab with a 6 from a 240Z, wheels from a Corolla, maybe rear end from a Datsun truck and maybe seats from a Mazda RX-7.
Harry P. Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 That's cool! Another great looking creation from you.
sports850 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Nice combination and well thought out . An Austin 7 hotrod is on my dream builds 1:1 list actually though with a twin cam 4 in it , small light and agile Then again , I am warped ...
Wagoneer81 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Chuck, an insane and unique build! Just what I've come to expect from your mad, fertile imagination! Keep these cool crazy builds coming!
rv1963 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I really like this one never seen that kind of engine in a rat rod it has attitude i like cars with attitude.
krazyglu Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Uh your not allowed to do that, wait yes you can and you did. All of your stuff looks so awesome and this one is no exception. I Like how the Japan body, motor, right hand drive and plates are meshed together beautifully. I really dig this one Chuck.
Pete Aron Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Well that's a different take on a hot rod!!! I really like it!
jbwelda Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 wow that turned out very kool! nice job on cutting away those fenders! did you have a build thread going on it?
Bartster Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 That's thinking so far out of the box you can't even see the box. Nice piece of educating, Chuck. Never heard this before.
Chuck Most Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 wow that turned out very kool! nice job on cutting away those fenders! did you have a build thread going on it? Nope, never did a build thread on this one- I just kept an eye on yours while I was working on it.
Danny Lectro Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I love this one, Chuck! Excellent job. I think the engine goes great with it.
krazyglu Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Whole 'nother day later and I still love this thing I just noticed the steering wheel looks modern like the momo one in my car actually. Works better with that motor than a typical large hot rod steering wheel. You might just be to cool for your own good Chuck Most.
jerseyjunker1 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 i love this build is it right hand drive. just to cooooool
CaptainAhab Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 weathering came out real well. Diggin the black/grey steelies
