Is there anyone other than Dencon that makes Grand Prix pieces to convert a '62 Catalina? I found reference on this board of Dencon producing the grille, but there was some argument about it in the thread and he mentioned discontinuing it... at any rate, the website is down and his Twitter account hasn't seen activity in almost a year... I found a conversion kit on eBay ONCE and I'm kicking myself for not snagging it. I think it had both the grille and taillight trim pieces. I figure if anyone knows where to find this, this board will! :)

Get the conversion from Shawn Carpenter. Look him up on Google. I don't believe he has a website.

<rocketfin.com> , scroll down to model car links . Right click and find Shawn Carpenter and right click . All are listed alphabetically . His stuff is great . No dissappointment on service and quality . Thanx ..

a/gass: here's the corrected link: http://www.arrowhead...hobbyitems.html

Arrowhead has just the grille, tail panel, and door emblems and it looks like Shawn Carpenter has those plus body, door panels, seats, console and 8-lug wheels. I didn't realize the Grand Prix's body was that different from the Catalina?

The Grand Prix was a sedan'd roofed Catalina. The Cat had that beautiful "Bubble roof" and the Grand Prix had the standart two door "Formal" rear roofline. YES, they were two different rooflines on the same shorter(than a Bonneyville)body. :);)

The bubble roof was '61, the '62 Catalina 2dr ht roofline is same as the Grand Prix. '63 is when the Grand Prix got it's own unique roofline...

The '62 Catalina and '62 Gran Prix have the same roof. In '63 the Grand Prix had a roof it shared with the Oldsmobile Starfire and Jetstar I, but no other Pontiacs. Why can't you people look this stuff up? The lack of automotive knowledge on model car boards is mystifying. And you don't get bonus points for proving you don't know what you are talking about by posting a wrong answer.

Probably younger people that don't know these details. Though such information is readily available on the internet and in the literature.

Here's another story about the fabled Pontiac Catalina "Bubbletop". There were actually NO bubbletops produced by Pontiac for '62. That roofline was reserved for the B-Body Chevy Bel Air hardtops as GM wanted to move the rest of the GM lineup in a different direction.

Check this story to see................

Now, I had noticed that the Grand Prix's roof was pretty close to the Catalina in pictures I've seen but I wasn't sure since the resin conversion has a body included. But that's because of the side trim from what I can see.

Ok, your right, but there STILL was NO Grand Prix built with a bubbleroofline. I'm NOT wrong about that. :)

No one said there was.
