Bowtienutz Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) The new crewcab arrived today. It's has a molded on Fleetside style bed. I know it's not what Mopar calls it but I.... The bed can easily be cut off and added to the standard cab to build a neat SWB early dodge. The cab differs from the standard cab offering in that it has a molded in rear window. Lots of great detail and of course very little cleanup is needed. Also included is Vacum form windshield not pictured along with flat acetate and pattern for rear window. I talked with Don and ordered just what I need for my project nothing more nothing less. I saved a few dollars My plan is converting the crew cab to a D700 for my Prudhomme hauler and build a street machine pickup with a single cab. Pictures are on the link below. Now off to the bench to start cutting and wacking away. gtx6970 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I sure would like more info on the bed / hauler still interested in the cab we spoke about as well
Art Anderson Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Didn't Dodge still refer to the wide beds as Sweptsides? Art
Longbox55 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Sweptline was the Dodge name, starting in 1960. The Sweptsides were built from '57-'59 as an anwer to the Chevrolet Cameo/GMC Town & Country trucks. Dodge went with a different route, essentially using Dodge Passenger car rear quarters on a narrowed standard bed. When the Swepline started in '60, the standard bed became the Utiline.
Aaronw Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I've been hoping for this vintage of Dodge, definately going to add it to my to get list.
Art Anderson Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 One of the guys in Lafayette Miniature Car Club bought that pickup at the HMCA show in Indy a couple of weeks ago--NICE piece (but we've all come to expect nothing but NICE from Modelhaus over the past nearly 30 years!) Art
