All right, I spent most of the day removing seam lines and the ribs on the roof top, and now it is smooth and beautiful. This should be a quick build. Like lots of people here, I had been waiting for this van to be re-released. It really makes for a great canvas. So much so I was tempted to open up some port holes (maybe the next one) but this one is going to take on paint as soon as I get it in primer. We'll see how the graphics go.

Here's the build mocked up with two tire possibilities I've been thinking of:

Choice #1:

Choice #2:

The body really didn't need that much work, but it wanted to have a totally smooth surface for impending primer, and then we will break out the AB. You can see in these next couple of pictures some of the cleaning up, in particular up on the roof.

In this picture you can see the sunroof and rear vent ghosted on the plastic. It would be very easy to cut this and add a sunroof, but again, my plan is to utilize every single inch of white plastic on this beauty.

I like the first set of wheels - are they Pegasus? That puppy is screaming for SHINY :) :) :) paint. Please don't disappoint me, doc.

Hey - how come the doctor part? I don't ever remember anyone asking.

You want to hear a good one? I ordered the Pearl Ex powders through Amazon (and they went through TCP Global). They were supposed to be delivered Saturday. Nothing even today, so I did a chat with Amazon. They have no idea but the supplier is out of stock. I call TCP and they have 25 of the 32 piece sets in stock. A shipping label was created February 29 but FedEx never came to get it. Amazon is telling me USPS. I call FedEx and they never were told to pick up. I go back to Amazon and tell them the whole story. So I had to re-order the powders and they'll ship FedEx next day and I also have a $50.00 credit for any Amazon item. The powders should be here Wednesday. If not, I'll call Amazon back and complain even more.

Don't forget - Gearz tonight. I'll be going back and forth between Gearz and WWE Monday Night Raw.

Don't you worry, Jim . . . this one is going to be so shiny it will blind you. LOL.

The wheels on the first picture are from the HILUX TOYOTA kit. I'm not a big fan of those kits, although I always try to paint them . . . and then realize I don't like them. But the tires are first rate.

By the way, Jim, it sounds like you got a good deal on those powders since they are giving you a 50 dollar coupon for their mistake.

You will be happy when you get the Pearl EX and start using it. See the shimmer and the transference in the color in the above picture? That thing shifts on you without having to buy high-end chameleon colors . . .

You can get lots of amazing effects . . . and it's a heck of a lot of fun.

I'd have to agree, the first rims look the best. I always thought vans were pretty cool, so much you can do with them. I really like how you smoothed it out so nicely, did you just use a block and piece of sandpaper?. I think it would look slick with the just the main body lines and get rid of the blinkers, gas door etc. But that's just me. Anyways I'm excited to see what you do with this one I'll be watching.

Jason, you know what, that's a great idea. These things had been bugging me too. I'll sand them off today. I think smooth is really the way to go.

Thanks, everybody. Jason, I smoothed it all out and I am much happier with it. Thanks for pointing it out . . . here's the result:

A smooth canvas all the way around . . .

Ah, where am I going with this? A surprise, but here's a hint: we are shooting for the stars!

Stay tuned in for more.

I guess I will be the lone voice in the woods. I like the gold spoked wheels. It would depend on the body color choice but how cool would it be if it was say a pearl green witht the gold spokes ?

Thanks, Ray, I am not discounting them yet until I see how the final paint job turns out. These are both chrome and Gold, so I like the combination.

The body is in primer. Stay tuned in for more progress.

i am seriously digging this one doc... i am really thinking about getting another "vantasy" kit now after seeing all the different vans coming out of the wood work now lol

Thanks, chaps, here's more progress:

So I airbrushed a black base coat, and added the tape to be able to work on individual panels (murals) at a time . . . but this gives you a pretty good idea of who the graphics are going to be laid out:

We'll see if this one can live up to its name, although once I start I tend to change my mind and then have to do a name change. LOL!

Doc, I'm sure in your minds eye you have a pretty good idea of how your van is going to turn out and as near as I can figure it's going to scream "bling"!

It may have already crossed your mind.....but after squinting at the pics, I'm sort of seeing gold spokes in the wheels with chrome rim & center section?

Don, I have both sets on stand by. I am doing the graphics in white and Pear Ex powders, and after than I will hit it with some candies. We'll see what colors this one will end up being. But yes, it's going to have some bling. I hope so. Stay tuned in for more.
