bbsbase Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 John is an artist in scratch building models (never mind if motorcycles, cars, trikes). And when color enter the equation he is an artist too. Every time I look his models, my eyes are wide opened. After seeing his models, my mouth is wide opened. The chassis of his truck looks so real. Great work as usual.
Alyn Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 You never disappoint. Chassis weathering looks great.
Lanny Haas Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 he built a jet engine drag boat, and when I saw it in person, the engine looked like one would burn there hand if one was to touch it...
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 John, Another great model in progress. How did you weather the tires? They really look right. bobthehobbyguy
John Teresi Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 John, Another great model in progress. How did you weather the tires? They really look right. bobthehobbyguy Bob......I use acrylic water base paints from "Michael `s"........they are called "Folk Art" brand......and they cost around 89 cents a bottle......I use black, and dark gray.......thanks.
Qwit Pushin Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 John, I think what impresses me most about your builds is your ability to maintain scale integrity throughout all of your scratch-building efforts. Never once have I thought that anything appeared out of place or out of scale relative to the subject. Do you just have an eye for such things, or do you rely on measurement tools to retain scale fidelity? Just curious.

Mike......thank you for you comments.......actually I used to be a pretty good pool player.....people said I had a good eye.......I guess i`m pretty lucky with guessing stuff to look right......I just eye ball stuff........thanks.
Lanny Haas Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Mike good point! one has to "feel" when to stop weathering.....cross the line and you lost it...Have never seen John cross it, when you see his stuff in person its "spot on"
Agent G Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Mike good point! one has to "feel" when to stop weathering.....cross the line and you lost it...Have never seen John cross it, when you see his stuff in person its "spot on" You must stop yourself just short of where you think you should be. Like, if you say, ok one more drag of a drybrush here, STOP, don't do it.......... John has that inate ability to accomplish that which we mere mortals only dream of. G

Dr. Cranky Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Love it, beautiful work. The subtle weathering really adds another dimension to it, John.
