Repstock Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I'm going to get to this project eventually, as I have at least 3 in progress now. Since the whole GMC project succeeds of fails with the grille, I thought I'd get it done now.
Repstock Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 That grill looks great! How much of it did you modify from the kit? This is the modified portion: The rest is the same as the original Chevy grille. When I cut out the center of the Chevy grille, the surround broke. You can see a piece of Bare Metal Foil at the center bottom of the surround.
RodneyBad Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I don't know much about chevy grills but that one sure does look nice..
Fabrux Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Is the base kit of this Monogram, MPC/AMT or Revell? I would LOVE to get a resin copy of this...
Badluck 13 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 WOW!!!!,that grille is just an awesome piece of work!!!!
Casey Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Please, please, please drill out the molded in headlights. Nothing looks more toy-like than chrome headlights on a model. It looks good so far, but I would also suggest you re-do the gridwork so it matches the 1:1 8x5 pattern, with each of the three openings having 40 holes: I realize I'm being picky, but I'd like to see it made as accurately as possible since I'm sure quite a few people would like to have one to use with a 1/25 MPC cab. Did you use the GMC nameplate/emblem from the Syclone kit's grille? Edited April 3, 2012 by Casey
Chuck Most Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 I had no interest whatsoever in a '73 GMC... until I saw that grille. Now I might be inclined to go ahead and build one.
