Darin Bastedo Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Body work is nearly done. I have a few rough edges, pinholes and new door lines to clean up, But other than that shoe's almost ready for paint. i Modified the green house with flush fit glass all around, modified the rocker panels changing the cut lines and making the bottom edge straight. that, along with the re-cut door lines, the chopped top and leaned back windshield should gif the finished car a low long sleek look. The 2007 GT500 front spoiler, was integrated into the surrounding body work , and the stock front bumper will still fit.
sjordan Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Did you modify the glass by sanding around the edges, or did you make your own glass? It looks perfect.
Darin Bastedo Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Did you modify the glass by sanding around the edges, or did you make your own glass? It looks perfect. I added a lip to the inner edge of the window, and cut the stock glass to fit. **Word of warning** Make sure you have more than one set of windows as it's easy to mess this up.
Badluck 13 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I LOVE this build!!!!!!!!!!!!,totally amazing, all these modifications not over done has made this look as if the Mustang was made this way, beautiful!!!!
TheCat Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 this build is looking very interesting... looking good so far.
Darin Bastedo Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Darin could you do some pics of the window up close. I like the way it smooth out the line of the window with body lines. Are you looking for a shot of the window frame, or the glass itself?
jedimastergary Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 nice one looks great and sounds like it will be a cool one when finished makes me wish i had bought something I could build a custom out of
Darin Bastedo Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 I added a little more to this build. My schedule, and the weather this summer has slowed me down. I'm waiting for a really nice day for painting this one. The delay did allow me to adapt an IRS from a Revell 1991 Mercury Cougar.
thom hoos Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Have you given it any thought to flush fit the headlight and grill to the front fenders and bumper that would clean up the front end a lot.Just my two cents
Casey Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I like how you chopped the top with a few wedge cuts, yet kept the rear window opening intact.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) Pretty slick work, all around. I like subtle, and clean, and quality. This one has it all. Very nice. That red & black car by Scalemaster is really interesting too. Edited July 22, 2012 by Ace-Garageguy
the weapon x Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 nice work bro what kind of wiring did you use for your engine
Darin Bastedo Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Wow. Time flies. I didn't realize it had been over a year since I last updated this build. One thing this build requires is stance. That is something I was struggling with adapting the stock chassis to get the look I wanted. So I designed a new chassis from the ground up using some parts from various kits. and some evergreen plastic. It's still in progress but I have all the hard points dialed in. I designed the chassis to mount the suspension higher in the frame so that I could achieve a lowered stance but with full suspension travel. I converted the front suspension to a McPherson Strut type and used the rear suspension from a 1991 Mercury Cougar.
Modlbldr Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I like the work you've done to get the suspension where it needs to be. I am having the same difficulty with a 65 Mustang that I am putting the chassis from a 97 Mustang Cobra under. I got it back out the other night and think I figured it out once I took a fresh look at it. It is hard to believe that it has been a year on this one. Keep at it. It is such a great body design you have come up with. I'm sure it will look good in the end. Later-
66belair Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 That is a very interesting concept, can't wait to see more.
Blown03SVT Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Shaping up nicely! Has a Steve Strope "pure vision" feel to it.
Abell82 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Good to see you working on this again. Cant wait to see more!
