LoneWolf15 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Donn, I'm gonna order your dvd this week, so you can add that $ to your new PC fund. Rob , Thanks , buddy ! I appreciate it ! 80 more and I'm in like flint as the saying goes ! Lmao !
MikeMc Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I love the Pearl X I took the liberty of putting some pop in that merc....Donn let me know if the color is correct.....I had a lot of fun with this one! Before After
MikeMc Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) Before After Might be a touch too much violet.....BUT THE SHINE !!!!! Edited March 21, 2012 by MikeMc
LoneWolf15 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Yep ! The shine ! Wrap a bedsheet around Stepanik's neck , quick ! The Merc is dead on , Mike ! I can see it on the hood and the roof line now . Problem being , it's such a light color that it's really tough to pick up the pearl nuances in photos! A wee bit too much violet on the Willys , it's much more subtle . The trunk lines are extremely exaggerated also . You know far more than I when it comes to photography ! Thank you for your efforts , I really appreciate it ! The Old Man
martinfan5 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I just now saw at the bottom of the first post, it states enamels thin with lacquer , have these been clear coated?, this past weekend at the club meeting, a member was showing me a body he painted using an A/B, and the shine was amazing , amazing that it had not been clear coated or polished
crazyjim Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Yep ! The shine ! Wrap a bedsheet around Stepanik's neck , quick ! The correct spelling is Stepanek. Extremely nice painting, Donn. I'm loving them.
LoneWolf15 Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 The correct spelling is Stepanek. Extremely nice painting, Donn. I'm loving them. Sorry , Jim ! I'm glad you like them ! Jonathan , That's the magic of enamels! The colors are standard base coats overlaid with mist coats of Pearl X laced Testors clear topcoat ! When you polish out the enamels sans clearcoat , you still end up with a fantastic shine and finish !

The Old Man I thought as much...it is tough to get the subtleness...but I will get it..I did sharpen it a bit...not as much as the merc, the original is a copy of yours. EDIT Check the pic now Edited March 20, 2012 by MikeMc
LoneWolf15 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Believe it or not , you've captured both ! What it looks like under the light from one standpoint , move and the secondary pearl coat shifts with you ! Virgil's Cobra does the exact same thing ! You know this ! You're the one that turned me on to them in the first place . Reds , coppers , blacks , grays , and oranges are next on the never ending list ! Lol !

Kanedge Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Absolutely stunning. Are these polished or straight of the airbrush?
mikemodeler Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 All I can say is that you made those "MO SHINY" Mike! Nice job on adding to the already deep colors Donn laid down. My eyes hurt from looking at them and now I am inspired even more to start spraying!
