I have to say that I am starting to have fun learning how to use my new air brush, I have been spending the afternoon painting bodys with it. Went to LHS and bought some testors enamels to practice with. I can not believe the shine enamels have when mix with lacquer thinner.

And how much more smoother the paint lays down, and the clean really isnt all that bad, I am kicking myself waiting so long to get one.

I still have along way to go, but I am getting there and I am liking what I am seeing so far.

J, that's the right attitude. You keep thinking you are having fun with it. It's a wonderful tool and nothing to be afraid of. I carried mine everywhere I went for a while and held it and practiced on it every chance I got. Wait until you start trying templates and masking to get some super cool paint jobs.

Good for you...i agree the A/B opens up a whole new experience in the craft of model building..

Funny you mention this... I'm working on a paintjob right now. I'm letting the second coat cure a bit before hitting it with #3... What's special about this is it's the first project I've shot with an airbrush in almost six years! I've been using rattlecans. Now that I have a garage and compressor to use again, I thought I'd try out a few tricks I learned from this forum... The enamel/laquer combo being one of them... I had forgotten how much fun it is and how nice a job I could do with one! I say keep moving forward and keep learning! I look forward to seeing what you've accomplished!

I spent some time today working on my airbrush set up, adjusting the pressure and getting the moisture trap and regulator set to an acceptable level. I took some time and did some test sprays on a couple of bodies I had sitting around and used some leftover acrylic paint from a project with my daughter. I am waiting on either building or buying a spray booth before I jump into the deep end using Donn Yost's method as I want to make sure I am not venting into the house!

Show us your shiny stuff Jonathon!

Way to go! I like the shine of Testors enamels also. As soon as I run out of Model Masters enamel thinner I am going to switch to lacquer thinner. I keep reading about it on this forum. Hope it works for me as good as it has for you.

Hmmm... one of the bodies you painted "today?"

Time stamp on the photos says Feb. 29.

Harry, everytime I switch batterys in the camera, I forgot to reset the date and time

Just to prove I am not BSing, here is a pic I took of your post pointing that out

Harry! You should be ashamed of yourself.:lol:

Jonathan, sweet Mustang! I still suck at using my airbrush..

Andy, now why should Harry be ashamed of himself ? , I have updated the date and time on the camera ;) . Well it got windy here and the mustang body hit the ground, and some paint chipped off, oh well, it was a practice body.

Just practice like I am doing, I am still having some issues, like air bubbles, or debris, cant tell for sure.

As far as proving I was born... you're just going to have to take my word for it...

You're experiencing the same thing I did, in early January 1962 when I fired up my Binks Wren airbrush for the first time--all that surface detail that rattle can paint buried, just jumped right out!

Enjoy the experience--an airbrush can move your model car building light-years down the road for ya!

C'mon, people, I gotta side with Harry here... I'd say he is who he is... I mean, I've seen the pictures of him, that he has posted... Who but the real owner of that mug would claim it?!? :P:) WHOA! Down Harry, humor... joke!!!... OUCH!!!

Martinfan, as to getting debris in the paint, no matter how clean I keep the garage or spraybooth, I can never keep 'floaties' out of fresh paint. This is why they invented 2400 grit polishing pads... Polish, buff, coat with Future, problem solved!
