Rob Hall Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) I've been on FB about 4 years now, since my 20th HS reunion. It's fun, mostly use it stay to connected w/ people I've known in real life over the years (hs, college, grad school, various jobs, etc). Some people take it way too seriously and spend way too much time there, but that's an issue w/ social networking in general. It's a great site for photos..I've enjoyed a variety of racing photo galleries, and pages like Motorsport Retro, the pages for various magazines, etc.. Edited April 1, 2012 by Rob Hall
CadillacPat Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 If FarceBook is affecting participation on online forums you can bet the forums are better off without those participants. CadillacPat
Harry P. Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Never been on FB, never been on Twitter... and never will be. Just not my thing...
brad4321 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I resisted FB for the longest time. I thought it was for people who enjoy socializing. But after being on it for a few years, it hit me it's perfect for someone like me who tends to be anti-social. It's an easy way to keep in touch with people you wouldn't otherwise ever keep in touch with.
Dingo5162 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I get invited to Scoutings Gilwell Reunion every year and every year I don't attend becuase my wife is not allowed to go, I'm not on facebook because of the same reason BUT I think it's a place where everyone wants to know who the next person is doing (or should that be wot they're doing) frankly it's a place for sticky beeks and I'm not one, each to their own though and if it's not hurting anyone (I doubt that though form wot I've heard) then OK but as I said it's not for me. Facebook phewy. Dingo
george 53 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 That's NOT facebook, THAT'S the NECRINOMICON, VERY BAD NEWS!!!! FB is ok. The few forums I visit tolerate NO B/S , and WILL dump people who like to start trouble, THEY don't mess around. I LIKE that.
Jon Cole Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Facebook can be tripe or treasure, just like real life. It's all what you make of it. I know of many who don't care for it, and quite honestly, I think they decided they wouldn't like it before they even tried it. Just like, for example, some people don't like any modern car design. Therefore, they already dislike the cars... that have yet to be created. I know a lady who tried to use FB, but she "Doesn't get it". I don't get that.... what's to get? Most women seem to like to post the "inspirational" message stuff. Doesn't do much for me. Guys just like to joke around, and sling some sarcasm. Works for me! The one thing that bugs me about FB is the ones who think it's a contest to see how many posts they can make per day. I know of someone who must be posting 50 or more times a day, if not more. That goes beyond socializing... right into obsession!
