There is or was a license plate collection website that had pis of the window registration and inspection sticker for some states posted, but I think that website is gone now. Which would be perfect, all you would have to do is copy it then resize it.

If you are trying to do it, maybe Google the state you want

I made decals of the Massachusetts inspection sticker off my 1:1 to use on builds. The first show didn't print well so I'll be adjusting the printer. It's just that I'm never in any rush to finish .. ehhehe

I made these in Photoshop. The inspection sticker is just numbers on a colored square. The tax sticker has the logo of the local county on it. I copied that from the county website, and put it on a blue background.

That's cool Hugh . I'm just really surprised that there not included in the decal sheet. I mean you get a state plate why not that state inspection.?

It would depend on what state, not all states do annual vehicle inspecions these days (Illinois doesn't, exept for a few metropolatin areas like Chicago and E.St. Louis).

About 12 years ago, when I was still living on Long Island, NY, I photocopied and shrunk a vehicle inspection and registration stickers from one of our cars before putting them on the car. I colored them with HiLiter markers and cut them out and white glued them to the inside of windshield on a couple of models back then. I think I may still have a couple of the copies somewhere, but I haven't used them in a long time. They do add just another little detail to the model.

Dang must be nice I have to do it yearly and if my car has a check eng light on it fails the inspection.

Same here in AZ, but I think that be in all states.

Personally, I wish states would do away with inspections . I watched Florida do it in 1978. I was also a State inspector in both Virginia and in Texas . Both have very similar laws . Texas has one unique rule mandating all vehicles will have a drivers side Sun visor . Virginia says all vehicles must have operating door latches that work BOTH on the inside and outside on all operating doors . From a monthly paperwork view , it's really a pain ! Course the down side of this is say in California where they will pull a motorist over , site the violator and sometimes impound the vehicle too.

Oh , I have some un- issued stickers from Virginia that date from the early 1950's . We had every six months inspections here until I guess about 1983 or so. I was in Texas when they finally went annual . I can photo copy some of the old stuff if anyone here needs anything . Ed Shaver

That's a cool bit of history Ed. it is pathetic ,my dad has a 99 rav4 I wouldent have a issue driving from Ny to cal . But because the check eng light is on it won't pass, all because it has a bad Cali catalytic converter and a bad 02 sensor . The garage said he had to replace all 3 o2 sensors and the cat at the same time and have the CPU reflashed. $1200. Worth of work and other then the light being off you woudent know ther was any work done.

I've done it before. I once made a temporary windshied license so I didn't have to clutter up the back of a car with a plate so I could enter it in a street legal class.

i wonder how TPMSs come into play here ?

(not that it mathers, MI doesnt care WHAT i drive, though if it is TOO rusty i could get cited for being an eyesore)

the wifes winterbeater came with TPMSs and the winter wheels have them

the summer rims do not and always light up the TPMS sensor

In Connecticut, they've done away with the registration stickers. So no more stickers on the windshield or license plates. All they do is give you a piece of paper in the mail that you have to keep in your glove compartment and provide to an officer if you are pulled over. The inspection stuff is all kept in the state computers, so no stickers there either.

I wish they would do away with it to. We got a 1966 Mustang from a guy in Louisiana and we live in Arkansas. The windshield has a big Louisiana inspection sticker in the window.

Pat, didn't Arkansas have a vehicle inspection or was the sticker I saw just for over the road trucks ? I remember at one time , you had to show how many miles you drove in Arkansas , you had to pay so much in road tax or buy equivalent amounts of fuel . Ed Shaver

Great thread. In BC they no longer do the safety inspection on vehicles but we do have to go through "Air Care" to ensure our emissions from our cars is OK. Another tax grab in my opinion.

I did a little googling on this and found this site. http://www.chauffeurbadges.com/79.html

Some of the states listed have the vehicle inspections stickers.

Direct reading TPMS became mandated for any '08 and newer vehicle. Earlier vehicles could have either direct reading (either valve stem or band style) or ABS reading (not very accurate). It is illegal to remove the TPMS from any vehicle using the direct reading style, with the following exeption; If the vehicle is equiped with aftermarket wheels that will not accept the sensor. However, with the senors available now, there's no reason to do even that, as they're readily available to fit any wheel.

Personally, i find them to be a PITA, especially when one get broken dismounting a tire or when they don't want to reset.

Take a picture of your license tag and inspection sticker of you car. Scale them down on your computer print them on some glossy photo paper and you'd come out something satifactory. Attach it to the windscreen with some canopy glue or other white glue that dries clear. For some more realism maybe roll edge before attaching it to the windshield. alot of them come partially unglued from the glass long before they expire.

On a I'm gonna come clean on lawbreaking note, in the early 70's my POS 60 impala would never pass a PA inspection. What to do? An observation I noticed that the label from a "Bavarian" beer bottle look amazingly like a PA inspection sticker. A black magic marker with a big # representing the month of issue and a little glue and I was Vinnie approved for a whole year. :)
