I've never smashed or blown up a kit...if I was stuck or frustrated w/ the kit, I've put it away for later. About the only time I've really had a freak out while modeling was when I sliced open my thumb w/ an exacto knife while building the Revell '59 Skyliner.

I have to say that I have never smashed a model in anger. I have thrown parts and broken bits but never the whole model. I build models as a way to control my anger and so if I get really upset on a build I walk away and do something else. Now weed eaters are another issue. I have smashed one all over the back patio in a fit of frustration and of course working on my 1:1 scale cars usually involves a bit of bad language and blood. Comes with the territory. Lol

That is why some builds sit for a while before continuing, as for torching a model with perfectly drinkable Scotch, well, that is just barbaric!

Some scotch aren't much better than paint thinner!! my preference is JW Black Label!

I don't think I could crush or throw a kit. I might put it back on the shelf until I figured out the issue or felt like tackling the problem. I kinda did that with my 60 bonneville. :)

I won't claim to have never been that mad, I stuck my fist through a wall once. I don't recommend that because you still have to fix the wall after the swelling goes down.

However with models I just don't get that frustrated, it is supposed to be fun and if I start yelling and cursing at a model I get up and walk away. I've come real close with a couple of biplanes, but I just take a deep breath and step back. If I still want to rip it to pieces after a break it goes into a box and onto my patience shelf (it better be patient because it might spend several years on that shelf waiting for another turn on the bench).

Whatever works for you as a release (as long as it's not beating your wife). If smashing it with all the ensuing consequences makes you feel better then by all means. We buy 'em to do what we want with 'em.
