I came across this today and I thought it was pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of the mustang at all but this thing is really cool. I've seen the trans am wagon and the kits they make for it. Do they make the mustang kits or has anyone built anything like it? I would love to know if there are any other kind of wagons like this out there? Post pics if you got em'

Just don't think of it as a "wagon"..... Think of it as a "shooting brake"....that always worked for Rolls and Bentley.......................Matt

I did this illustration a few years ago. When I did it, I had never seen a Mustang wagon. I didn't even know they existed (I know, only as prototypes, not as production models). I thought I had a really original idea. Guess not!

Give it a few years and some weathering and it'll be a RUSTANG.

Then again, we have pickups / utes:

I thought the wagon was pretty cool but those pickups are even better. I'm like them a lot.

Has anyone ever built a model like this?

Any other kind of weird wagons out there?

Some of these are among the best-looking Mustangs I've ever seen, but that's not saying a whole lot from where I sit! I especially like the red and white wagons and the silver-blue pickup. On the other hand, some of them are downright goofy looking: The white one with the exhaust stacks and the limo especially. If I liked Mustangs (which I most assuredly DON'T!), I'd say those two were wastes of perfectly good cars... which I really don't think they werre in the first place!

Harry, your Photoshop work is first-rate as always. :)

Collectable Automobile magazine did what Ford missed doing , a Fairmont based Ranchero . I think the same California outfit also did a Thunderbird conversion too . A M C actually built one Hornet based Pick up, it's been restored and it is shown periodically. Ed Shaver

I saw a metallic gray 65/66 shooting brake at this years Goodguys in Phoenix, and my intial thought was 'oh dear', however as I got closer, this thing was so well executed, relatively understated, with some nice '60's touches, I really liked it, I don't want one, but I like it.
