Plasticfanatic Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 This is my on progress Chrysler Imperial wich hopefuly will become the one race by Arrignton in the early 1980's. The base model used for the conversion is a monogram 1984 Grand Prix to which styrene sheet was laminated and blended to achive the Imperial profile/look, the car is shown with its first coat of primer, lot of sanding and fitting still ahead on this one to get everything smooth as possible, also the engine hood and front bumper/glille are still under construction.
S. Svendsen Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 The basic proportions look pretty good. Keep going!
Chuck Most Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Never knew Imperials were used in NASCAR. Body conversion looks great!
Chuck Most Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Just did a quick search- finished 8th in points in '82 with zero support from the factory. Let me just say this project has my full attention.
george 53 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Usein the Pontiac body was a stroke of genius! I see it once you pointed it out. GREAT imagination This is really outside the box thinkin! I love it! Keep it commin, PLEEZE!!! (an I'm not even a nascar guy!)
Plasticfanatic Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 A BIG THANKS to all for the kind words about this project, greatly appreciated. Do any fellow member have or know where to get the Arrington race car number/sponsor decal set?....I believe some one did these some time back but don't remember who. Fred
bbowser Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Try Southern Motorsports Hobbies. Do a search for #67. They list 3 sheets for Buddy, not sure what years they are. Great job on the body BTW.
Plasticfanatic Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 bbowser & Futurabat, Thank to both of you very much I found a solution to the main decal dilema. I to have deal with J.Heller at e-bay, great guy and super fast service indeed. Now that the solution to the numbers (67) and Arrington name for the car are out of the worktable, will have to find some white drytransfers for the back sponsor...not a dificult thing...I hope!! Again thanks!
Truck parts Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Fred, That is a outstanding job you have done so far. Will you sell a resin body of it down the line? I would be interested if you cast some,
shafer Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 looks gr8 here is a pix of that real imperial arrington drove
Jim N Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Very nice body work. I would have never thought a Pontiac can be converted in this manner. I agree with the others, I will be following this one.
martinfan5 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Here's a set by Jim Heller. I've dealt with him many times. http://www.ebay.com/...=item4cfbddadf5 These are decals for a MAGNUM but if you contact him i'm fairly sure he'll have what you need. I want to make a comment about that seller, but wont. On topic, looking good, I agree, I love the thinking outside the box, keep it up
MAGNUM4342 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I want to make a comment about that seller, but wont. On topic, looking good, I agree, I love the thinking outside the box, keep it up Well, Futurabat (Jacen) and I have both dealt with him for years and have never had a problem. I'm sure if there is something negative you experienced it could be explained. We have discussed it and decided niether one of us will hold it against you. PM if you want to, you have our curiosity up.
