TooOld Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) I'm using parts from 4 kits for this build . The '57 Chrysler is supplying the bulk of the parts . The disassembled glue bomb supplys a 2nd body ( I'm building 2 at the same time ) and interior parts for the wagon . The '58 Plymouth donates its roof and becomes a convertible . The '71 Hemi Cuda is donating its engine / trans , hood and shaker scoop , wheels and tires , and probably the steering wheel . I stripped the black paint from the glue bomb and cut the roof off . Cut the roofs off of the other Chrysler and the Plymouth . All 3 form the new roof ( Plymouth is the center piece ) . Added some small spacers to adjust the height . Cut the body open to build the interior , and some filler on the roof . Next I fit the Hemi in the chassis and located the shaker and the hood opening . Finally , I test fit the new roof on the body and finished the body work on the hood . Does any one want a '71 'Cuda that's missing a few pieces ? I'll never use it . PM me . I will update in a few days . Thanks for looking . Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Edited March 4, 2020 by TooOld
vwrabbit Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Love it! I keep wanting to build wagons, but never think to pick up glue bombs to supply the extra roof! PM sent also! Tim
mr moto Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Very cool looking wagon conversion! That's the way to get the groceries home before the milk gets warm!
CorvairJim Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I like where this is going. I'm using the 300 kit in a wagon conversion of another sort at the moment too - It's donated it's chassis and drivetrain to a Jo-Han '60 Plymouth Fury wagon.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Me too, I like where's headed. Nice work so far. Thanks for sharing the eye candy.
crazyjim Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Pretty cool except for the little pictures. What you want for the '71 Cuda? Where in FLA?

Bartster Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I love 2-door longroofers. I love Mopars. I love customs. I think I'm gonna love watching this build!
TooOld Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) I'm just seeing if I can post a full size pic . Okay , what happenned ? I finally figured it out . The problem was with my Photo Bucket settings . Edited April 3, 2012 by TooOld
stewart Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I like the look of this project. Personally, I like the look of the front of the 57 C-300s but not the back. When I build mine, I plan on changing the look of the back. I will be watching this one closely. STewart
TooOld Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) Small update . I've been looking at those deep areas between the fins and the roof . It's going to be hard to do finish work and paint way down in there . Plus masking since I want the roof a different color . After a few days thinking about it I've decided to build the roof as a seperate assembly . It will be painted and have the glass installed before attaching it to the finished model . So I'm adding the front from the other roof to this one . The front part still on the body will be removed later so I don't accidentally break the vent windows . I couldn't resist taking a look at the wagon with it's new wheels and tires . I like that look . More in a few days . Edited March 4, 2020 by TooOld

I got a little done last night . Fitting the interior . Bench seats and plenty of room for haulin' parts in back . Edited March 4, 2020 by TooOld
TooOld Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 Looking good! Any luck finding a bumper? Tim Not yet .
TooOld Posted April 9, 2012 Author Posted April 9, 2012 What bumper are you looking for ??? I'm missing the front bumper ( AMT 1957 Chrysler 300 ) . Do you have one ?
TooOld Posted April 13, 2012 Author Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) I managed to get some work done this week . The body is primed and almost ready to paint . The chassis is started . And the engine is almost finished . Here's the chassis painted and fuel lines installed . Suspension parts are almost finished . Finally , the engine is getting close . Distributor is installed , but the cap and wires are in the mail from MAD . I added fuel lines and filters . Throttle linkage and cable . PCV valve and breather . Pwr steering pump , oil filter , and battery cables . Also the brackets for the alternator and pwr. steering pump . And the dip stick ! The weather has been pretty nice so I need to get some yard work done this weekend . Hopefully I can start painting in the next few days . Thanks for looking . BOB. Edited March 4, 2020 by TooOld
