Zarana-X Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) This is built from Tamiya's Curbside kit. I originally bought this about '89 or so. For some reason I tried to make a rally car out of it, hence the front wheel arches cut out. The rally car didn't turn out as planned so I made my first version of Breakdown, mostly from memory. And it stayed that way until last month. The colors and paint scheme weren't all that accurate. so I took it apart, added seperation/panel lines, changed the tires to larger ones, and repainted it. Here he is now: Edited April 15, 2012 by Zarana-X
Chuck Most Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I was hoping you also built the robot to display with the car, but this is still pretty cool!
ValvEasy Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Great idea; I also kinda like that you referred to it as "he"...
phil-east Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 i love it, i've been thinking about doing some transformers cars and this is making me even more keen, thanks
Zarana-X Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I Just noticed, part of the "ear" on the decepticon emblem got folded over somehow. That's bugging me, not sure when or how it hapenned. Either when I cleared the hood with Future, or when I polished the hood. I had another one I built in the early 90's as robot Sunstreaker, unfortunetly, I don't have pics of that, I have the pieces, but it's too far gone to reconstruct, (pherhaps). I do have a new kit, I will be building as Sideswipe, I'll try to build it as neatly as possible, as it is an actual car. Walter Wolf's LP500s Countach. I have a glue bomb '79 Vette that will be rebuilt into Tracks, eventually. Also an MPC Beetle that may become Bumblebee, the MPC Beetle is as bad as the Revell one, but for different reasons.
Deathgoblin Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Someone needs to make one that transforms. Kinda like the Alternators line. Those were about 1/24, weren't they? Awesome job!
AceofBass Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 This is just awesome! Transformers are my favorite and I've been considering building a model to look like one for awhile. Would probably do an Optimus. Great job!! The large tires capture the essence of a "cartoon" or fantasy vehicle and somehow make it more fun. And yes, Deathgoblin, the alternators were 1/24.
Zarana-X Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 They used to make a Freightliner cabover just like Optimus, it's out of production.
