MachinistMark Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) started it yesterday, won it as a prize in the hobby show i entered my 48 ford in. so far ive lowered the front suspension about 4 scale inches, enough to get the fender lip level with the top of the wheel. the front end has been nosed and decked, and the fenders have been removed of some of their jewellery. colours will be a dark candy blue with a bright blue metal flake roof. gonna be using the kit wires and knockoffs. engine will be wired and plumbed. pics later tonight when i get home. Dirty Gringo Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 loving the sounds of this you should give it a slight chop it looks really good that way
MachinistMark Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 there are VERY few 50's cars that look good chopped in my opinion, so no. it wont be getting chopped. i tried the brush a little lacquer thinner trick over the shaved trim trick, well see how it worked when i re primer it tomorrow. pics: Nosed: Rear fenders shaved: Stance shot:
Olskoolrodder Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Looking great,my friend!!! I can't wait to see more,I've been grokking that kit on my bench for several days now, deciding on a kustom direction myself........can't WAIT to see more!

MachinistMark Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 Cleaned up all the rough body work, ready for its last coat of primer, got a new spray gun, and the colours i needed for the body, it ought to be in paint by this time wednesday or so.
mopar68 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Great start Mark, I'll have to keep an eye on this one.

Outside of the 49-50 Mercs (and they don't look bad stock height) I think the stylists in the 50's got them right the first time. Like where you're going with this.
hjracing Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Wow! this is a model I ever want to build. Realy nice paint job!
MachinistMark Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 thanks fellas, it needs another day or so before i wetsand it a bit, then spray the flake on the roof
Bartster Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I love the color, Mark. I'm anxious to see it together. Nice work so far.
MachinistMark Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 No progress from the last update other than ive started knocking down the first couple coats of clear and masked the roof off for the flake, started a new job so time isnt exactly plentiful.
