kruleworld Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 These two are the Australian Group A Touring Car Bathurst winners for 1991 and 1992, driven by Mark Skaife and Jim Richards. the models are both tamiya, the red one was a street gt-r and the white one was a modified Group N racer (a much easier starting point).
Tye Brown Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Look nice man, shouldn't that Jimmy car have 3 wheels lol Great builds man
jdmfan Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 They look good . Do these ones have the engine detail ? .
crazyjim Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Nice builds. Where the heck is Bombala? Never mind - I googled it. I almost made it to Sydney on R&R in 1970. Didn't make it and now I probably never will. Bummer.
Silver Foxx Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 These look great - nice to see some more aussie racers.
Zarana-X Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nice work. Still a shame they never sold these here, before the Infinity G35, or the unobtainable GTR.
Yahshu Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Gentleman Jim & the Smiling Assassin. Very nice builds. Wasn't Jim & his car boo'd by the crowd that year ? He wasn't a gentleman then but who could blame him.
kruleworld Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) Gentleman Jim & the Smiling Assassin. Very nice builds. Wasn't Jim & his car boo'd by the crowd that year ? He wasn't a gentleman then but who could blame him. That's true. The race was red flagged, then Jim crashed (along with half the field) and Dick Johnson crossed the finish line. because the race was red flagged, Jim was called the winner (he was in the lead at the time), Dick's fans were not happy and booed him. Jim replied they were 'a pack of a$$hole$'. Jdmfan, yes, they have the full engine detail, but they are box stock in that area. Edited April 23, 2012 by kruleworld
Dave B Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Another pair of nice builds Walter. I don't think Jim ever got over being booed, it still gets a mention from time to time. Not very Aussie, just too many drunk Holden & Ford fans at the start finish line!!! Pretty ordinary display. I'm Ford by the way Dave B
warra48 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Very nice models from back in the day when touring car races were still interesting in Aus. I don't bother with the bogan Ford v Holden rubbish these days. Don't even watch Bathurst anymore.
