Scale-Master Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 New wheels & tires and a slammed suspension. Side mirrors and rear spoiler are from an RX7, I made new reflective mirror faces and treated them to the same fade as the sides of the body. The exhaust tip and fuel filler were machined from aluminum. Instead of a traditional front spoiler I made a splitter from sheet styrene. The screen under the custom hood cutouts is some stainless I had lying around painted gunmetal. Paint is Tamiya, Dupont and HOK.
Hippie Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Thats quite a Car, certainly would attract attention wherever it goes.
CadillacPat Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Hey Mark, I like that light red fade coming off that red stripe. It softens up the break and looks great. CadillacPat
Rusty Sierra Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 That sunken gas cap looks killer. Love the whole thing.
Reeves Racing Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Looks lean and mean Mark. Nice work as usual.
Erik Smith Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Sunset over water. Really cool paint job. That is a great looking Miata with some excellent modifications. Very nice indeed.
Ryan S. Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Turned out great! The front splitter and the rear spoiler along with the hood treatment go a long way to making this so unique. At first glance it hardly looks like a Miata. The paint really highlights that too.
shucky Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Really cool Mark. Looks great and I'm really digging the colors.
jbwelda Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 how did you slam it...just glue the wheels in there or did you actually lower the suspension realitically? i am wondering because i basically got nowhere attempting to make the suspension low and realistic on the tamiya mx5 i did. yours looks killer.

I reworked the suspension, but as far as realistically? Not exactly. I used the front A arms on the rear and left out the tie rod/rack. I also cut out the fenderwells. Since it was intended to be a curside I was able to fake a few things, but if you don't study the chassis/suspension too closely, it works... The wheels do roll.
LAone Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 came out great. its totally different than any other miata out there. it look beefy with the cage, spitter and wheels.
Chuck Most Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I will say that I hated the lavender rockers upon first seeing them. Now? Well.... let's just say I've warmed up a bit to that. Easily the meanest Miata I've ever seen as far as the hardware and stance go. Now, get a Revell Miata and a 1:24 small block Ford V8 and do a Monster Miata!
kruleworld Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 That's a pretty amazing paint job, it outshines everything else.
