Harry P. Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Ok, maybe the fumes have gotten to me... But what if Ford offered a coupe "Galaxie" version of the upcoming new Taurus (the late "500")??? Am I crazy...or would it sell?
Darin Bastedo Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 It would never happen. It looks too good and makes too much sense.
mikelo Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Plus I think people would actually remember the Galaxy name.
PatRedmond Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 It would never happen. It looks too good and makes too much sense. EXACTLY !!
patrol52 Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Looks good, but you gotta call it the Taurus, or it will never sell anymore! I actually think the Lincoln version of that car looks pretty nice--and almost like what you made there.
Rob Hall Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Looks good, but you gotta call it the Taurus, or it will never sell anymore! I actually think the Lincoln version of that car looks pretty nice--and almost like what you made there. The Lincoln version of the Taurus/Sable--the MKS-- looks like it's going to be pretty nice..it's coming for 2009 (I've read it's going to be seen in the upcoming Batman movie).
Dr. Cranky Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sure, I'd buy one if Ford didn't go out of business . . .
Kris Morgan Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I like it. I has a very nice look. However, it reminds me more of a 69 Falcon than it does a Galaxie. Maybe thats just me. At any rate I think it looks cool.
DR Dubois Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Looks nice to me. Heck, maybe if Ford hired designers with your mad skills Harry, they wouldn't be in the trouble they are now! Look at what they've come out with now, the Flex? Talk about a brick on wheels!!! As always, cool designs sir.
Casey Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Looks nice to me. Heck, maybe if Ford hired designers with your mad skills Harry, they wouldn't be in the trouble they are now! Look at what they've come out with now, the Flex? Talk about a brick on wheels!!! As always, cool designs sir. The Flex may have plenty of flat surfaces, but the Scion xB is already in it's second skin, and they are wildly popular. I think the Flex is sexy as heck, except for the corporate grille design and liftgate brightwork. I'd rather drive a Flex than a minivan anyday!
Guest Davkin Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I'd go for it, but only if it was built on the Panther platform. Unfortunately Ford is phasing out the Panther platform so one of my favorite modern cars will no longer be available in any form soon. David
Chuck Most Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I'd go for it, but only if it was built on the Panther platform. Unfortunately Ford is phasing out the Panther platform so one of my favorite modern cars will no longer be available in any form soon. David Dude- there's nothing modern at all about the "Panther" platform... the Crown Vic/ Gr. Marquis/ Town Car were "retro" before that was cool! Still, yeah, it sucks that Ford is finally killing of the last troika of 'true' American full size cars... but it's been coming, David. What kind of Ford will I have to drive when I'm a 55 year old Florida transplant, now that I won't be able to buy a new RWD, body on frame, V8 FoMercLinc? Another chapter in American automotive history is closed... Anyway- the '08 Galaxie may be feasible, after all, those Monte Carlo buyers are gonna need SOMETHING to drive when GM keels over dead !!!!
Guest Davkin Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Dude- there's nothing modern at all about the "Panther" platform Well, you can say that about the chassis I guess but the rest of the car has been continually upgraded. My '99 CV is a far cry more technologically superior car than my '89 CV was. Besides, modern is a relative term, my other car is a '64 El Camino. The newest car I've ever owned was ten years old when I bought it! I guess my next car will be 2009 CV. David

FordWagonNut Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I like it! However, would it be FWD, AWD, or RWD? I went to trade my '96 Lincoln Town Car for another Town Car in 2004. The Town Car the Ford dealer had was not as well kept once I took a look under the hood. They had me look at Crown Vics and Marquis's, still did not find what I wanted. I said to the salesman "If you still had a RWD two door personal car like the Thunderbird, I would buy one." He laughed a little, said all they have are the Mustangs. I never saw myself as a "Mustang" kind of guy. All my cars have been 70s Thunderbirds, LTD's, and a few dotted 80s/90s full size cars. So here I am, 24 at the time trading in a showroom new '96 Town Car for a 2004 black Mustang. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Mustang but if Ford had something like the Galaxie, I would have more than likely bought that.
