RattleCan Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) After a quick search I saw that this has been brought up before, but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything new about a 64/65 shelby daytona coupe kit being worked on. I've been wanting to build one since I started modelling, but I can't justify spending nearly 200 on the HRM kit right now. Edited April 22, 2012 by RattleCan
Harry P. Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 15 bucks: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MPC-1987-DODGE-SHELBY-DAYTONA-Model-Car-Mountain-KIT-1-25-FS-/360450860179?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ec8ba493
Harry P. Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I think he means Cobra daytona coupe Then he should be more specific.
RattleCan Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 Then he should be more specific. Edited original post for clarification, I always forget about the other Daytona.
cobraman Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 You can usually find the Gunze kit on ebay for a bit over 100 bucks.
curt raitz Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 There is also the Scale motorsport "Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe" #CSX2299 resin kit... probably set you back $150.00 if you can find it...
deja-view Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Great picture, Curt. Are you smiling at your very first build?
Greg Myers Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Find your self an old Lindberg kit and an AMT roadster and get bashing.
Greg Myers Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Look closely through some of these :http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=56840&hl=%2Bmy+%2Bcobra+%2Bkits&fromsearch=1
curt raitz Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Great picture, Curt. Are you smiling at your very first build? ya know it coulda been...it is about the age when i started playin' with models actually i think it's the last picture of me with hair
torinobradley Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Academy had announced a Daytona Coupe late last year for this years release but I haven't seen hyde nor hair of the beast. I heard it was no longer on their site either. Can anyone confirm?
RattleCan Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 Thanks for all the input, looks like I'll just have to wait until I'm skilled enough to take on an expensive kit.
Art Anderson Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I think he means Cobra daytona coupe He was: "64/65 Shelby Daytona--only one style of those in the 60's. Art
Greg Myers Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Edited original post for clarification, I always forget about the other Daytona. You got it art.Actually there were seven if you count the one from the AC factory. Edited April 28, 2012 by Greg Myers
lordairgtar Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Academy had announced a Daytona Coupe late last year for this years release but I haven't seen hyde nor hair of the beast. I heard it was no longer on their site either. Can anyone confirm? They aren't going to make it as far as I know. I see Revell is producing the Corvettes Academy tooled. Find your self an old Lindberg kit and an AMT roadster and get bashing. That's gonna be kinda hard since Lindberg's kit is 1/32nd scale.
cobraman Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Not only is it 1/32 but you would have to do a lot of work to get it to look very good. Different wheels and tires would help.
Jon Cole Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Well then, I would say it is time for us model building cave dwellers to start banging our tin cans and make some noise for the Cobra Daytona Coupe! I mean, after all, such a powerful and influencial race car should be a "no-brainer" in the current climate of our hobby, no? Yes! Academy is, for all purposes, DOA. At least as far as this kit is concerned. Edited April 28, 2012 by Jon Cole
Greg Myers Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Alot of naysayers here. Come on you never kit bashed? You don't have a stash of wheels and tyres? Now look at the red kit , yeah, right next to the little 1/32nd kit.
cobraman Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 What ? Kit bash and build from my Cobra collection ? Not going to happen. : )
