Dr. Cranky Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Here's a quick little vid on how I do my dashboards, and this kit has a good one to work with: Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eFvLlFbBWU:
Dr. Cranky Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Here's another update on the 49 Merc "BURLESQUE": Watch the video
crazyjim Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I'm lovin' the leopard skin and the LEDs. Keep it going, Virg.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Thank you, Jim, you'll be happy to know that I ordered these just to help keep the mood going! They are prefect for this BURLESQUE THEATER.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 I am hoping once the LED lights hit these, all crazyness is going to cut loose. Get your dollar bills ready! I know you will only throw your bills at the shiny burlesque cars!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Here's a quick video of where and how I get my graphics . . . hope you enjoy. Watch
Trans Am Erik Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Man o man this diorama is loking great. The g string and dollar bills crack me up, and you DID make headlight tassles LMAO!!!
JasonFL Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Haha this is so awesome, the detail is getting ridiculous! I also thought you were going to lay down some gloss but your really pulling it off, rust and all. This has been a fun build to watch, cant wait to see her finished.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Thanks, folks, I am on cooking detail today for Mothers' Day, but I hope to make some progress on the interior and the engine by tomorrow. Do stay tuned in. Happy Mothers' Day to all the fine ladies out there who birthed so many of these wonderful model builders!
crazyjim Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Are those earring for you when you display the Merc or for the display itself? Your graphics video mentioned a "fixative" front & back. What's the fixative? I print graphics on gloss photo paper and don't use a "Fixative" - maybe I should?
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 LOL, Jim, the earrings are for the DISCO BALLS! Not for my ears. I've never pierced my ears but maybe I should, this way Doctor Cranky can play PIRATE once a year. Arrgh! Fixative you can find at your local art or craft store. It's a sealer which is a good idea, but if you've never had any trouble with your inks running, then I guess you don't need it.BTW, Dullcote works the same as a fixative.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Sometimes what slows down a build are all the great ideas, like this one . . . very tempted to build one of these:
crazyjim Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Virgil - where in the heck do you come up with this stuff? Disco balls and now a fog machine. Just sick and amazing at the same time.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 LOL, Jim, it's called STYRENE INSANITY! Ha. I gotta get the fog machine and then the disco lights . . .and then everything will be BURLESQUE INSANITY.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Obviously, the fog machine can be adapted to a smaller canister to make in scale fog?
crazyjim Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 The name of the game is having FUN! How boring would it be if we weren't having a good? Crank up that fogger!
LoneWolf15 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 LOL, Jim, it's called STYRENE INSANITY! Ha. I gotta get the fog machine and then the disco lights . . .and then everything will be BURLESQUE INSANITY. Lordy , Lordy , He's gone over the edge ....... Again ! Lmao!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 Donn, there's NO EDGE! It's all free-falling now! Or at leas the tossing in of more dollar bills!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Here we go, this is always the part of the build where things get a little tedious with detailing and painting the last round of engine parts . . . but I've learned to go slow and enjoy the process. Here's some progress: The interior is coming along:
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Part of what slows it down is the weathering I end up doing with the airbrush. I am working on the tires right now and some of the radiator parts, etc . . . Getting the engine parts mounted for some impending airbrushing . . .
Harry P. Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Thank you, Jim, you'll be happy to know that I ordered these just to help keep the mood going! They are prefect for this BURLESQUE THEATER. And for Saturday night!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 The firewall is getting some details too: And then suddenly that Bob Seeger song popped into my mind (big black haired beauty . . .) and since I had some black paint left over in the airbrush I decided to add a much-needed detail . . . The only problem is that I feel weird posting the picture here to the forum where there are some minors, but if you want to see it (and are old enough) you can go here: http://public.fotki.com/vsuarez666/voodoo-customs-chop-shop/models-1/burlesque-49-merc/55.html#media
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Yes, perhaps this one will now NEVER be shared in any magazine anywhere. LOL! Which means you'll have to bring your dollar bills to see it: http://public.fotki.com/vsuarez666/voodoo-customs-chop-shop/models-1/burlesque-49-merc/56.html#media
