slownlow Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I've been a lurker for quite a while and finally joined up. I'm a very slow builder, my current project has been going on for 6 months, as life keeps getting in the way. This is an older build I'm presenting so I can work out any posting quirks. She's a Revell standard 40 ford. The top is chopped 3" and the body channeled. The channel was done by lowering the body on the frame but not the fenders. enjoy
Jantrix Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Well we have a lownslow and and a slownlow now. Excellent! First welcome to the forum. Second nice work on the '40. Looks very smooth.
crazyjim Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Welcome Bob. Nice looking 40. I like how you cut the hood and I like the SHINY :)
Dr. Cranky Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 What Rob and Jim said. Ditto, and we hope you will stick around and share more eye candy with us.
Bernard Kron Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I remember this one from the TRaK site and have always liked it. Very cool and very traditional... Technically, this is an extremely demanding build, too. Congrats on a nice one!
slownlow Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks for the kind comments. To channel this way I found a site which describes how it was done "back in the day" http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/techarticles/channeling_body_drop_car/index.html and that's pretty much how this car was done.
Joker Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Like the deleted running boards and pancaked hood. The front split bumper and the molded head lite buckets are all Traditional mods. BTW..Welcome to MCM James aka Joker
CEKPETHO BCE Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Very nice. Look a lot like my dream car, Doug Rice's Ford (in my avy). What colour did you use?
slownlow Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Andrey, I looked at that car a lot while building this one. The color is something I mixed up when my wife said it should be "kind of a terra cotta" color. It was flat and then sprayed with clear gloss. I was really tempted to leave it flat.
Vampira Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Why has i taken me so long to find this post. good job on a hard chop..
Lovefordgalaxie Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 Why has i taken me so long to find this post. good job on a hard chop..Be thankful the pictures didn't vanish, like 99% of the posts I have bookmarked to visit once in a while. Photobucket did a huge damage to most forums.
Vampira Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 yea it sucks all the photos are gone. what happened?
