camaroman Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 or is it OK to comment/reply to an old post that you stumble across? I have noticed that when someone makes a reply or comment on a post that is old (sometimes years old) we have a few that always seem to have a problem with the resurrection of that post. I for one like to revisit deep into the archives occasionally to see if there is something I have missed. If I truly appreciate the build or idea, I feel that the OP deserves the "That a boy!" praise even if I am late to the party. Furthermore, we should NOT make newbies feel that just because they are new they can comment on old topics ... JMTWC. What do you think!

moparmagiclives Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I don't think it's too bad to comment, but I think it's funny to see someone answer or suggest something to a post from 6 years ago.... But thats just me.

Chuck Most Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 If its a cool model, or the thread containes useful information? I don't have a problem with it at all. 'Bumping' it might mean people who missed the first go-round will be able to see it.
SuperStockAndy Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I'm fine with it as long as it's in any of the finished models sections. Gives a chance to check out threads you've never seen before. If it's in the General section, I'm fine with it as long as it's no more than a couple months old.
camaroman Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 I guess I should have been more specific in that I agree that there is no value rehashing old debates and the like, but old builds and post about tips/ technique might be very helpful to a whole new generation of Forum Folk ...
Harry P. Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 If you find an old topic that you want to add to, that's perfectly fine. Topics don't have an expiration date.
uncle potts Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 If you find an old topic that you want to add to, that's perfectly fine. Topics don't have an expiration date. Thanks. Us newbies need to know that our two cents is woth something too.
Joker Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I keep every issue of Model Cars Magazine. They are appreciated. When I want inspiration or ideas,my floor space is littered covered with them. They don't have a "search function button". The beauty of the internet is the archives..to comment on them shouldn't make people feel like a kick to the shins with a steel toe boot.I enjoy the hobby for the peace not bickering. yada yada yada James aka Joker
camaroman Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 If you find an old topic that you want to add to, that's perfectly fine. Topics don't have an expiration date. Thanks for weighting in on this Harry ...
camaroman Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 Thanks to all who have expressed their opinions on this matter ... Please go back to our regularly scheduled programing ... of a great forum!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 If its a cool model, or the thread containes useful information? I don't have a problem with it at all. 'Bumping' it might mean people who missed the first go-round will be able to see it. Totally agree with Mr. Most, but I would also add that you have lots of freedom on this forum as long as it is clear to everyone you are not trying to start trouble or reopen old wounds.
Danno Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I wholeheartedly agree that there is absolutely nothing wrong with reopening an old thread ... unless ~ of course ~ it has anything to do with heaping tons of false, shallow, misguided praise on yet another mediocre build of the General Lee!
Tom Setzer Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I have every issue of Model Car Magazine, and I often find Ideas in those old issues. I also check out old Threads on the Form, looking for inspiration, So I'm Glad That Harry made his statement that Threads do not exspire!
sjordan2 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I wholeheartedly agree with the above comments (especially Danno's ). Have at it.
futurattraction Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I don't think it's too bad to comment, but I think it's funny to see someone answer or suggest something to a post from 6 years ago.... But thats just me. The way some projects get put on hold for months or sometimes even years, who knows when maybe a suggestion isn't so out of line, even on an old thread? I say that mostly in fun, but ya never know...
