Bassist for Booker T and The MG's (and Blues Brothers) passed away in his sleep while on tour in Tokyo Japan.

Met him once at the House of Blues in Chicago years ago. He was a really great guy!

We have a custom in Austria.

When someone we like dies, we put one of these lamps outside, you know, the ones you put a tea candle in. It will be lit all night, until the candle goes out.

We believe, this illuminates the night enough to facilitate the person who died finding the way to heaven.

I'm sad that I had to put it out twice this week.

I would have never guessed he was that old.

He was a member of Booker T and the MGs... they were popular in the '60s... that was almost 50 years ago. Even the Blues Brothers (he was a member of the BB Band) came out almost 35 years ago.

Saw this on Guitar World.com yesterday. Sad day indeed. He was a highlight in the BB movie for sure. He had some great lines. A superb bass player in the old school tradition.

Life can indeed be short friends.

Duck was one of my favorite bass players, and "Sweet Home Chicago" still ranks as possibly the funnest bass line to comp of any song I've heard. RIP, Duck, and thanks for all the wonderful chops.
