TheCat Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) Here's the inspiration for this build. I'm going to build it in this color. Bought the decals from Keith Marks. Used Testor's Classic White. Pictures of the process coming soon. Edited June 13, 2012 by TheCat
cobraman Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Looking forward to photos. One of my favorite all times autos.
carchub Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Hey that's awesome, before I started working on my '32 Ford, I was making one like this. Same paintjob, but I weathered it. Never finished it though =P
jeffs396 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Felix, your builds always look factory correct...did you address the inaccurate nose on the '69 kit?
Monty Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Felix, your builds always look factory correct...did you address the inaccurate nose on the '69 kit? Agreed. From an accuracy standpoint, the Revell kit would seem to be the obvious kit to use since it blows the AMT kit out of the water...until you encounter that virtually vertical front grille assembly. Maybe you can figure out a way to incorporate the AMT grille. Either way, good luck & keep us posted on your progress.
TheCat Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Here's some picture updates: Body completed. Had to fill in the side louvers on the body as the BOSS 302 does not have them. Sanded, applied primer and painted it using Testor's Classic White. Then applied the decals from Keith Marks then applied the cleaar coat. After it dried, i applied the flat black. Then added the Bare Metal Foil. I used the 1970 Mustang hood as the kit gives you two types of hoods, one with the shacker hole and the one without any holes. Had to sand the sides and rear to make it fit the 1:25 scale. I'm still working out the grille issue... but i may end up using the inaccurate grille that Revell send in with the kit. Also completed the Engine (somewhat). Still have to apply more engine compartment wiring. More to come... Edited June 15, 2012 by TheCat
Tony T Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Looks like you are doing the inspiration (nice Mustang!) justice!
Olskoolrodder Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Looking NICE so far, awesome engine detail. I liked always liked the looks of the '69 over the '70 (full Mustang line, not just the BOSS)
jaydar Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 (edited) I would love to do this same model! What kits did you start with? Joe. Edited June 16, 2012 by jaydar
bryan_m Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 nice work so far! the paint looks great, and the engine is very cool as well! keep it goin cheers bryan
Abell82 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 While the grille is not perfect, There is, in reality very little wrong with the grille it's self. the Problem is in the fenders, and headlights. From what I remember, of this kit.
foxbat426 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 beautiful - can't wait to see the final build - i might use that white (testors) on my GTO build. The GTO on the box is Cameo White and that looks pretty close - its not too bright!
TheCat Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 I would love to do this same model! What kits did you start with? Joe. Hi Joe - I started with the Revell 1969 MACH1 model kit and the hood of the Revell 1970 Mustang Special Edition kit that gives you the option of building a 1970 MACH1 or a BOSS 302. You will need the sand down the sides and rear of the hood to make it fit the 69 body.
