jcbigpaw Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 So here's me Revell/Gearz entry finally finished. What? The contest is over? Timing is everything. Oh well, had to get it done anyway. Nothing fancy on this build, didn't even wire the motor. Straight from the box mixing the stock and race parts to come up with the kind of car you see every weekend at the local car show. Nice paint, big motor, lots of attitude. Engine was done with Testors Pontiac Blue Metallic. Interior is satin black Rustoleum. Body was shot with two coats black primer then sanded with extra-fine and covered with three coats Gloss Black, also Rustoleum. Finished it up with a nice rub down with Meguires. Only change i made was to swap out the drivers side mirror for one from the parts box. The kit mirror was huge. Didn't look right. Thanks for looking.
Bartster Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) Nice job, gotta love a double black bird! Edited June 17, 2012 by Bartster
CaptainAhab Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Black is a toughy. Nice execution! Ive yet to try shooting a car gloss black since I was a kid...too afraid of the outcome!
jcbigpaw Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Danno, when you have a car like this bald rear tires happen. Lol Thanks for all the praise on the paint. Who says you can't get a good finish with a spray can. One criticism I have of this kit is that they have placed the wheel backs on the chrome tree when they need to be painted and the engine scoop while molded as one nice piece is NOT on the chrome tree? W-Machine Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 That build has a real mean look to it that I like.
bbowser Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Great job. I've always thought the 'birds had more class than the Camaros.
