crazyjim Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Here's my first build using 2 part urethane clear. That stuff is messy and smelly. HOK euro red on the roof and beltline; HOK scarlett kandy over orion silver through the middle; HOK cinder red on the bottom.
Bartster Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Very tasty, Jim! Looks nice & SHINY!! l love this kit, & you did a bang up job on it. Glad to see you're having fun with your new toy(s). Peace (or not!). Bart.
crazyjim Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Thanks, Bart. You know SHINY :) RULES! Didn't want the peace symbol on the front. The new spray gun and 2 part urethane make a difference. I have to build more so I can practice more. I wouldn't mind trying to get another one of these kits and try to detail more. I love the body style.
Austin T Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Great build up,this is one of my favorite TD designs right next to fire cracker and Troublemaker.Didn't this kit come with a mini bike?
crazyjim Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Thanks Austin. I like the style too. Yes, it came with a minibike. I did some paint on it, didn't like it, so it's taking a bath.
Bartster Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 l have the Revell '62 Samba bus cuz l love these old vans. Considered closing in all the windows to make it a panel. l guess that's why it's still in the closet, lol!
crazyjim Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Just glue in the glass and bondo over them. I just checked evilbay and they want $30-50 for a Baja Beast kit. I guess I won't be building another one.
TooOld Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Just glue in the glass and bondo over them. I just checked evilbay and they want $30-50 for a Baja Beast kit. I guess I won't be building another one. Yep , they are getting pricey ! I've been looking for awhile and doubt I will ever find one . Your paint work is amazing ! I love your choice of colors , and it is SHINY !!
crazyjim Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Thanks Bob. Those kits are much more than I'll spend. SHINY :) RULES, Bob. The 2 part urethane clear that Fatkidd told me to use works very well.
Austin T Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) I have a vandal issue of the mini bike (The same as this one) and I'm almost finished, just need to Alclad the wheels. Edited June 20, 2012 by Austin T
backyardinc Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 def beastly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great job on the custom work !!!
W-409 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Looks like great & Shiny build . Good color choice, that fits very nicely on that Volkswagen. Good Job all over.
crazyjim Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Thanks, Niko. The Beast has a small block Chevy inside. I'm thinking that Tom Daniels kinda sorta had a VW in his mind but made it more stylized. And thank you Ray.
