foxbat426 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 stupid question but i sanded down some paint to expose a badge and now the badge is showing but the paint around it has some light scratches. I don't want to sand around it much more as to mess up the badge. i plan on 3 coats of clear so I was wondering if the clearcoat will cover the slight blemish around the badge.
martinfan5 Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 No it wont, paint hides nothing, and neither does a clear coat
cobraman Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 It may even make it look worse. You can't cover up bad paint.
Gregg Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Actually, I have had the opposite results. I had some like sanding scuffs, and a ding on the roof, and the two-part urethane lung-killing clear covered them right up.
foxbat426 Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 yes greg - these are basically scuffs - thx
jbwelda Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 you might try buffing them out with some novus plastic polish and then apply your clear. then if it still needs touch up, if you have a pilot or sharpie in the same color you can do some fine touch up and you will never notice it (some restrictions apply, see fine print, always wear a safety mask and goggles and give mom a kiss before leaving home.)
