JollySipper Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I recieved the Aug. '12 issue of HRM last week, and on the cover it reads this in small print: "Hey, this issue is special! It's the last edition of HOT ROD with the current design. Coming next month, an all-new, bigger, and better HRM." Hopefully one of the changes they make will be an address label you can remove. I'm anxious to see what Freiburger has up his sleeve...
Austin T Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Same here, sadly though content has started to decline, especially with all the Camaro's in that last issue.
JollySipper Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 One change they have made in the past few months thay I hope stays is the "5 minutes with..." column. It was kinda cool to read the interview with Jessi Combs....
High octane Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I myself prefer buying and reading Hot Rod issues from the 60's.
cobraman Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I just let my subscription lapse. Don't really enjoy the mag any more.
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Austin , this may come as a surprise to yez, but some people LIKE camaros....And magazines 'usually' print what sells.....(Just pullin your leg....GRIN)....'Z'
Greg Myers Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I myself prefer buying and reading Hot Rod issues from the 60's. You should try Hot Rod Deluxe
Guest Johnny Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Austin , this may come as a surprise to yez, but some people LIKE camaros....And magazines 'usually' print what sells.....(Just pullin your leg....GRIN)....'Z' But they already have Camaro Craft to fill that void!
Greg Myers Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 and put a small block Chevy in that Ford Hot Rod too
Austin T Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I under stand that people like red camaro's,but their muscle cars, not hot rod's.I kinda wish they had more retro stuff in the mag(And yes I know about Hot Rod Deluxe, but I already have a subscription to hot rod).
High octane Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Nick i know you right. I don't think so, but anything's possible.
High octane Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 You should try Hot Rod Deluxe I did and I don't feel that it's worth my money. The issues from the late 50's and the 60's take you "back in time" right down to the advertising and the products they had back then and not now anymore.
Junkman Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 You should try Hot Rod Deluxe Yeah, and if they'd leave away those dizzy blondes, one could even see the hot rods.
sleeper Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 ya but has any body read Street Rodder sometimes I fine good articles specially(April's 2012)a Ron Covell article on 40 roadster p/u what you think.?
darquewanderer Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) Back in the early '90s, one of the editors commented to a writer as to why they had so few Mopars in their mag. The quote as I remember it was "We don't need to show Mopars to sell our magazine". I quit my subscription after that, as in my opinion, they did need them. Then later (IIRC) Hot Rod did one of the dumbest articles ever printed on a Mopar, or any car for that matter. Chip Foose's Sniper. They made a joke out of it. Not a good way to run a magazine. Chasing off potential customers with poorly written articles irrespective of subject matter. When they start publishing Mopars again, maybe I pickup a copy. Maybe. I do however, wish them good fortune in their format change. Edited June 24, 2012 by darquewanderer
Junkman Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Then later (IIRC) Hot Rod did one of the dumbest articles ever printed on a Mopar, or any car for that matter. Chip Foose's Sniper. there is my first problem. What's a custom doing in a hot rod magazine???
lordairgtar Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Hot Rod isn't a mag about what most term "hot rods". It's about what they think is cool and what people are doing to their cars. Even in the 60s, that mag had articles about the latest stuff from Detroit. If you look at the term Hot Rod as a verb instead of a noun, I think you would get the gist of the mag.
